CL Redondo Beach: 95 GTS Auto, 16k miles
#46
This car isn't museum quality, or worth much over $60k or so.
OTOH spending say $40k on a beater would not make it worth $60k even if it looked exactly like and performed exactly like a GTS, it would just be another $20k to $25k frankenporsche depending on the details.
What gives this car value is that it has low original miles, its a real GTS, and in nice original condition.

For only 16k miles this car seems a little beat up with the way the hood is aligned and the condition of the interior.

A 'lot' of people of people feel this way about 944s, 914s, 986s as well. Personally, I feel that way about the whole 911 family because there are way too many of them out there.

Funny stuff NoVector, maybe you missed your calling and should have a magazine?
I have some bias related to my opinions.
My point of view is as a buyer, not a seller.
I am on the sportscar side of the sportscar - luxury barge scale.
I prefer a display of frugality to a display of wealth.
I see no reason to keep the Grey Poupon cold. I use room temperature yellow mustard with a few table spoons of dry hot Chinese mustard mixed into the bottle.
I've never driven a GTS 5 spd, but I recall driving a Coupe DeVille once, can't be that much difference. Some of my older friends love their STS, so its not like I am knocking the GTS, just not for my taste.

I'll probably get flamed for this but you have to realize that these cars are so old that $13,000 Scion's probably have more to them nowdays. It would be easy to make a better car (better looking, faster, better handling) than a GTS with all the newer, lighter technology that as been invented since 1995. A lot of people think that the 928's look like a strange space bubble and find them the least desirable of all Porsches.
For only 16k miles this car seems a little beat up with the way the hood is aligned and the condition of the interior.

Some might consider the rear flares an advantage when choosing rubber, even if you are referring to engine mods. I'll let someone else challenge you on that. Ease of modification is not why someone pays 95K or even more for a GTS. We're having fun here, right?

This thread is almost as funny as the one about Pelosi owning a 928. Keep up the good work.

944J you are a special kind of a-hole. I like that this board doesn't have flame-problems but I have to let you have it. This is like going to a Justin Bieber concert and yelling "you suck". Yes he might suck (in your opinion) but, wrong venue! Why would you bother in front of people you KNOW are going to hate you for it? You are just trying to get "beat up" so I am going to leave it at that.
Lets see if anyone is collecting Classic Scion's in 25 years...

It is amazing how many members of this forum have learned to read this amaturish drivel and just shrug their shoulders, knowing any response is wasted when applied to vacuums residing mid cranium.

The cheapest new Scion costs $16,000 not $13,000 and weighs only 2100lb. 0-60 is over 11 seconds and it struggles to maintain 60,ph. How could it possibly have more than a 3400lb GTS?!?

I agree with regards to the Scion trolling; otherwise though, thanks for strengthening my point...

dangleb..I agree with most all of what you had said, but I am not sure you are so accurate on a GTS being under powered. We all know they were factory de-tuned as they were being phased out and Porsche didn't want it to be faster than their best selling car at the time. However, not sure how much time you've spent behind the wheel of a 5 spd GTS. If you think it lacks performance, you are soaringly mistaken! I think you are listening to too many people that sway your thoughts. You just don't spend that kind of money to buy a nice GTS to improve performance, you enjoy it for what it is...whole different thought pattern. If you want to hot rod a 928, save your money and go for a less expensive model that you can sink money into if you feel like you have to something prove. It's this exact lack of thought that you bring which boasts ignorance over the issue of higher priced GTS's. One thing has NOTHING to do with the other.
Range Rover is right on.

After you've driven/ridden in a GTS with one of my 6.5 liter engines, the stock GTS is almost boring. Seems like you are driving an old VW bus, in comparision.
I think people that "modify" the GTS vehicle are just trying to bring it more up to the "current" performance of the "newer" vehicles....kind of like if Porsche was building that car today.
