What did it cost you?

That should help us with giving you advice.

Nope this guy was just an idiot, maybe the previous owner was a cop, I think it was insurance auctioned at some point. It has been floating around for a few years, and sitting in a barn here and there.

If that is the case there should be room to work with it and still have a car that is worth more than what you have invested into it?

Assuming you can get a clear title, you should be able to put up to about $15K into it and STILL have a bargain, and a great classic car to drive for a long time.

Good price point... Looking closer at the engine bay....a little elbow grease and it will look worlds better (silver intake paint looks still to be silver)..rest just looks dusty.. Do all the service stuff, tbelt, waterpump etc... Get the paint done...and get that dash done.. (maybe get it covered in leather?). Do you have pics of the interior? put 10K into it...and still be ahead..

Well, if you want to play that way.

If you paid more than $8K you paid too much.

Nonsense.

If the title is clear, and those miles are correct, he stole this car even at 10 or 12K.

It would be a FELONY to part that car if it's got a clean title.

Carfax?

Parting out seems a bit strong but maybe the title situation will decide that, rough GTS with salvage title is going to be hard to move.

That aside why not get it mechanically up to date and drive it? No need to worry about parking it away from other cars in a parking lot for example. Can always work on the cosmetics over time.

Just a thought.

I don't care if it has a salvage title, still a crime.

If it has a junk or certificate of destruction that is a different story.

There are ways to legally have those turned into salvage so the car can be licensed. It's not easy, but can be done.

Do you have any import issues since its a Canadian car? Unless you have documented history the miles may reflect a replaced dash computer. If you plan on doing a lot of the work yourself and the miles are legitimate 23k, and you pull the heads to make sure there is not any block rot from sitting too long with bad antifreeze and oil in it, it could be a good car.

To me this car is $25k from being a $25k car, not including your investment to date and fed import fees if required.

Can you title a Canook car?

Interesting, one more of the 406 NA GTS cars located ... wonder how many more are still out there?
