opinions - 93 GTS blk auto 23,000 miles - fix up or part out
Hey peeps, here is the question and info.
I bought a 93 GTS on somewhat of a gamble. The car only has 37,177 kilometers on it. Yes kilometers, its a Canook. Car hadn't ran in many years, was filthy dirty inside and out, and a bit rough, but the guy was hurting for cash so I grabbed it. After all it is a GTS with 23,000 miles. I got it back and gave it a bath inside and out, then went to work on the motor. Cleaned up under the hood, oil was crystal clear and everything else looked good, so I put in a new battery and rolled it over for a bit to build up some oil pressure. Things were checkin out good, but Hmmm no fuel pressure and no buzz form the tank. Tested the pump and nothing, well after sitting 8 years with bad gas you probably wouldn't turn either. Took the pump out of my 89, and Bingo she fired right up. Now the car runs great, but she is rough cosmetically. Someone has keyed both fender and the hood, it will just need a complete paint job. some of the interior is good and some is bad, dash is cracked, doors good seat ok.
Soooo... do I keep her and fix her up, or part her out, or just dump it off and make a few bucks...Hmmmm what do you think?
Here are some picks

Fix it up, no need to part it. Sure it may take some cash to do it.

Oh yeah I forgot to tell you one Major thing!!! No clean title yet!!! I am applying for a title, so we will see how tht turns out. It is obviously a major factor. I think if it comes back clean I will fix her up, but if not, I may have some really nice GTS parts for sale

I guess it would likely come down to what its worth fixed up... my SWAG would be.. in decent clean condition..93GTS AT with low miles should be around $25K. If it were mint...super clean low mile 93 GTS AT...then maybe $30 plus?
Was the GTS black a single stage paint?...might be able to do a good cut/polish to get the scratches out of it...

Hard to believe someone would let a car that cost 6 figures new get to that state after only 23000 miles, sad. That car in clean condition (painted properly, interior fixed up, under hood refreshed etc) would be worth in the 30K range with that low mileage. Either way it is too nice to part, fix the mechanicals and some would be happy to drive it the way it looks now.

Yea, fixed up and looking GREAT this car would easily be a $35k car! That is really low miles! This is one of the few 928's that is probably actually worth more as a full car than as a parts car! FIX IT!!!

But no jump-post cover...
Victor, you gotta learn to take better pictures. How is the interior?
For '93 it should be single-stage, ours is. But not real thick, so it will certainly need some paint-- but probably not a complete repaint.
Personally, I think it would be crazy to part it, they no longer make these.
Cheers,

Paint is totaled, no saving it, too far gone. I had a guy who does really good work look at it last night. It needs a full paint restoration.. side windows out hood, door and lid off. If I keep it, I want to paint it perfect, not some maaco or earl shieb paint job. I can get more quotes but he said 5 to 6 thousand, and if I remember people have paid much more for custom jobs. Personally I would like to keep it the stock paint code
