DROOL.............................................................
me likey.......... a couple quick calculations...... Andy's uber-stroker made about 610 crank HP....I don't remember the exact RPM, but lets say 6000 or about 533ftlbs....if we can extend that to say 500 ftlbs at 8000rpm it would produce 761HP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Imagine what that would sound like too...

Visions of a 13:1 compression 6.5L with TBs and a power band from 5000 up. Wow, fun. Ethanol and high rpm. Hmmm.

Very cool! It will be interesting to see how this works out in the longer term. $4k seems steep to me, but then I've never priced a crank before, let alone an "uber" crank. Not dissin' your price point, just acknowledging my personal price limitations.
I guess I'm more of medium-priced hooker kind of guy. Maybe I don't "get" the added value a high-priced hooker brings. Sure it rev's higher, but at what cost does it make it worth it?

These cranks look sweet. Thanks for explaining knife-edging. I was under the impression that the knife edging also helped reduce the drag of the oil 'wall' when the crank cut through the misty oil in the pan area.
The idea of a 5.4 stroker kit is awesome! (Drool!!!)

I'd love to learn more about the increase in choice for bearings.

So I'm guessing that I can probably take your name off the list as a potential customer for our billet block?

Like everything I make, I wish I could give it away for free....I enjoy the engineering much more than the business side of things.
And while I don't want to "rationalize" the price, it is worth a comment or two.
I'm actually thrilled that I can get the price of these things down to that level...I had to order way more than I planned on to even get the price that low.
Our "Moldex Stroker Cranks" have been $3500, for quite some time, so this is a very "slight" increase over that price, with a huge amount of improvements.
"Stock" GTS cranks are "north" of 5K, from Porsche....and they made hundreds. Trying to find a good used GTS crank is going to be "impossible", soon.
The "racer" that is building a "sometimes I'm going to go to a local PCA event" is going to spend $1500+ getting a stock crank "prepped" for use....and still have "agony" when he runs it.
You have to be realistic....if our engines had a "bullet proof" bottom end and people could go out and beat the crap out of them for hours and hours, they would be way more popular than they already are. However the "fragileness" of the 928 engine, combined with the history of idiots putting them together, has "scared" away a lot of potential customers.
There's also a couple of completely different markets for these engines than just in our vehicles. Several "off-road" applications come to mind....
Think of me as just increasing the value of your own car.

I used to think spending $8k on a supercharger was silly. Not so much now considering I've got probably twice that "invested" (

It's a sickness. You just happen to carry a different virulent strain! If'n I ever make out your way, I hope I don't catch anything.

I shudder to think how much time and money you have tied up in this Greg.
When we both get time to build me a stroker I will be using your parts.
Any plans on parts for our 5 speeds?
The reason I ask is that at the power levels you are going to be able to make with all the neat parts is going to open up a new market for drive line parts.
Well done my friend.

Gorgeous cranks and priced pretty keenly as far as I am concerned. Around 2000/2001 I paid $AUD5500 (about $USD3500-4000 at the time) for a top of the line race crank to go in a 4 cylinder engine I was building for my MGA.....so about $USD 4k for a much lower volume and much more complicated item sounds pretty good to me given how much R&D goes into creating something new.

Very, very sweet!
What kind of $ for the 5.0 and 5.4 package that includes your new rods and bearings? Will your cranks and rods be balanced for use with the stock pistons?
Nice job

Yes, very closely balanced for use with stock pistons. Impossible to zero out every single weight variance, so I've had to take an "average" and use that. Some will end up slightly "overbalanced" and some slightly "underbalanced". Certainly close enough for most to "bolt" in. Most people would be taking their clutch and flywheel into be balanced, anyway, so minor variations can be easily balanced out, if desired.
