Were there any ROW 89 GT's?

Default Were there any ROW 89 GT's?
I ran across an interesting parts 928 which is an ROW 89 that had a manual box. Was curious if there is any chance that it could be a GT. Going to try and take a look at it this weekend in person, but anyone know if there is a ROW GT, and if so, is there a list like there is for the US cars?

More than twice as many ROW 89GT's than U.S. 89GT's. https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...-was-made.html

Not sure whether there's a list of all the ROW cars, I'd think that would be a real challenge short of shotgun querying PET and finding all the cars listing the GT option (not that that's a reliable indicator anyway....)

I thought the '89 ROW GTs were badged as Club Sports? or were the CS ars the lightend version with no a/c, radio etc?

check the # on the motor 28/47 is a GT

It Makes me wonder why my 89 has GT marked on the heads but yet the intake is not.

No it isn't Greg it is one of those strange breads from japan that looks like it should be a GT, but is an auto.

Here is what I saw when I removed the heads (they are R3 heads)


But its a M28/42 engine

If it is a 1989 ROW 5spd car there is a chance it could be a S4 with the uber rare 2.64 rear end. Nice compromise between the acceleration of the 2.73 and the economy of the 2.20...

....and lets not forget the Amsoil

Brad.....I believe your car got mixed up somehow; after all what makes the engine a GT 47.......the cylinder heads, intake etc where as the block is stock but the pistons pf a GT are 'balanced' with a consistant CR.

Some S4 probably got modified "GT" heads towards end of '89 MY production. Factory was using whatever they had on hand at the time and wanted to get rid of all soon to be obsolete parts.
