Sultan of Brunei's 928s

The Landshark OZ (Australia) listserv (Thanks to Gary) listed Porsches owned by the Sultan of Brunei...among which there is more than a smattering of 928s. There was a thread on F-chat a few months ago that had actual pictures of alot of the cars. One of the posters in the thread used to be a mechanic for the sultan. He also has some pretty cool stories about his time there. He said that alot of the cars have been destroyed due to the collapse of the economy there. The sultan didn't want to sell them and then have the public aware of the huge amount of resources that were wasted by the royal family. The mechanic also said the the cars have not been maintained properly for a very long time and that alot of them would most likely be in poor condition. I'll see if I can dig up the thread.

For example " these cars were bought at rock bottom prices as an investment and are now being sold at immense profits to support the economy"

Anyway sounds unlikely; with todays oil prices the economy must be rosy...

Here's an idea, you know he cant possibly drive all those 959's, so say a group of people on rennlist get together and donate 5K, and by one from his mightiness then we can all share an hour on the track with it throughout the year....

He has 500-700 gurka riflemen and 100 Brits as his "military" just to maintain peace for his 300,000 people all who pay no taxes and the economy is heavily subsidized. The standard of living is quite high by Asian standards media is state owned and strictly censored....interesting place if you are the Sultan !
