Somebody knows, how much 928 GT was made at the Porsche`s plant?
I know, that 928 was made 61000 cars, but anywhere I can not find, how much was made 928 GT.
Sorry for my english.

There are no definitive numbers only few different sources that do not concur how many of each model and year were made. Few sources give these as GT production numbers:
Other published number is 1626 GT's made all together. More info in here:

Code:
'89 369 '90 997 '91 254 Total 1620

I was under the impression that the 89 GT was only "50" cars....which ended up being 57 or so...at least thats the info I got from 928registry.org Either way it is not that many cars

I'm not exactly sure how many 89 GTs are out there. My guess would be somewhere around 75-80 given that I have 57 documented. Sure wish Porsche was more willing/able to share the numbers with us.

369 is either world wide or ROW number, not US. In fact I suspect 57 (or what ever number US cars were made in '89) is not included in it.
There's life outside USA guys.

Right you are. Igor's original question was more of a global question than specifically how many are in the US. Guess since most of the stuff on this board is centered around US cars and information regarding US cars, I posted in that frame of mind.
Happy New Year!

Can we postulate that there are about 1700 worldwide production of the 89-91 GTs? This would include US in the total. That would be about 3% of the fleet. Although if the poll we did is any indication, the GT is well represented. My car is 4th from last VIN in 1990. If ordered a few days later, it would have been a 91. I wonder sometimes if I have any 91GT minor differences. It's certainly a small piece of arcainia.

[I think that's how its spelled]
My Russian is so sorry I hope I didn't insult you or anything! In any case, 928GT's are pretty rare in the United States. They are NOT rare on Rennlist; to own such a car these days means that you wanted to buy it. The original owners, who probably bought the car for no other reason than that it was a Porsche...have probably sold their cars at this point and they have passed into the hands of enthusiasts. The type of enthusiasts that most likely are on Rennlist.
I'm not out to disparage 928S4 or early model 928 owners, but the odd sorts of 928 are far more likely to have owners who are attracted to places like Rennlist than those more common types. I have encountered a few 928 owners in my time, and of all the times I've mentioned this website, only on one occasion have I met someone who knew of this place. Most Porsche owners are not here.
Since the factory reports only rudimentary information on the 928, then you have to go on what people here say. Best of luck/ Da svedanya-

One thing that could be clarified is that those numbers were for calendar year, not for VIN year. This means some 40% of the 369 are infact '90 model year cars. More correct list could be something like this:
40% of calendar year production is moved to next years VIN total. Of course these are not absolute correct numbers as production could have fluctuated over time and 40% may not be right as far as GT's are conserned even if it were correct for total production. Unless factory releases more details, guesswork and approximation is all we can do. Anyway, numbers do support the fact that '89 GT is rare animal.
Reason why I believe US '89 GT's are not included in these numbers is low figure of 148 K VIN GT's. That's only about 16% of total ROW production at the time period of 02/89->08/89. Jörg Austen gives VIN range KS841585 -> KS842488 meaning some 903 ROW cars all together were made in '89 model year after GT was introduced in late winter 88/89. Furthermore percentage of manual gearbox cars had traditionally been larger in Europe than in USA. This leads me to believe 75-80 US '89 GT's can't be included in that number. If they were, it would mean ROW '89 GT's would be scarcer than US '89 GT's. This doesn't sound plausible as there were german and english language brochures printed for it in 02/89 and ROW 5sp S4 is really rare beast after GT's introduction if such thing exists at all.
Code:
Year VIN Months Cars Yearly total Percentage of GT's out of total including S4 cars made (GT made only part of (and CS in '89) the '89 K VIN year) 1989 K 02/89->08/89 148 3618 4.1% (4.4% with 12 CS) 1990 L 09/89->12/89 221 01/90->08/90 598 Total 819 3051 26.8% 1991 M 09/90->12/90 399 01/91->08/91 254 Total 653 2037 32.1% Total 1620 8706 18.6%

Does anyone have an explanation of why Porsche (or PCNA) is unwilling or unable to tell the world how many friggin' cars they made?? Surely they've had many requests for this info.

"1990 L 09/89->12/89 221"
It`s about my car.
I think, that classification on VIN year more informative, than on calendar. The order of spares is made on VIN year.
