I would think a dry sump oil pan would be best made from a wet sump one like we have all ready, just plumb it for scavenge ports and pump all the air/oil out.

while my pan is off, I'm trying to think of things that would need welding on it in the future....

Here is the place to ask about different welders.

The general rule of thumb seems to be that the Millers are the top of the line for industrial type machines, with some other special machines being better for other things, from what I have read any way.

I do know if I buy another one it will be a inverter based machine.
Thanks Greg. I saw many reviews and it was always a "very good for the price" conversation. I need to get a very good mig for some work I am doing. Including some aluminum (I actually also have a battery-based welder that supposedly can weld aluminum with the proper gas. I'll start researching Miller. From borrowing some other people's MIG machines, it does seem as though the machine quality counts - even in mig, much more in TIG.

for the mid prices "fab/shop" mig welders, its almost down to what do you like, red or blue? i was looking at the lincoln mig 110/220 welder of the Miller version due to you just swap out the end of the power cord, not the whole cord....
