I noticed that, too. Not who it was sourced from. Same fella has Carl's pan spacer and injector rails. The ***-umption is it came from Carl, but there's no telling.
I think what Rog is saying is that no matter what he tells IMI....they still revert to the old (mine) style of power post setup... no rhyme or reason..
That's why we stopped selling the IMI starters. Our current manufacturer has a design that is different, and the positive post is not straight up. That said, I used the IMI starter for years. While you have the starter in you hands, put a washer on the post, then the nut and tighten it down a little. Now sand or grind off any of the post that is taller than the top of the nut. Then remove the nut and washer and go ahead and install. There should now be a air gap between the stud and the oil pan.
Depending on which IMI model it is, you may also be able to install the starter with the positive post pointed straight down, like I did here. No oil pan issues then.
