hmm

If Doc says "this is why it died".... I BELIEVE HIM.....no doubt no questions...... Is my "faith" misplaced.....I'd say NO....so would EVERYONE who EVER has bought a stroker from him....even the dedicated race cars keep coming back.....

Racers by nature are a fickle bunch always looking for the newest "whiz-bang" item.....with the BIG dyno attached..... but thats not how Doc works......he NEVER quotes dyno numbers unless asked....he quotes how long the engines last and how often they WIN......

If I was in a different tax bracket my race car would have been at Doc's a long time ago....a dry sump Doc Brown stroker is just about the perfect race engine....

What do you call batman and robin after they've been run over by a steamroller?

Flatman and Ribbon!

And that is about all that can be added to conclude this thread.........

Amen, many a race engine builder has went from hero to zero in a afternoon.
Greg Browns work speaks for itself, years of it.

I've personally seen the inside of an 928 engine that met the same exact fate. cylinder walls, pistons and valve stems damaged beyond repair. crank actually measured out ok on the rod and main journals but the thrust surface was ruined from thrust bearing failure....

cams measured in line with what I've seen on other used 928 cams.

I still think that for the right person this is a decent deal.

I've also gone thru the conversion from S4 rear quarters to the GTS quarters, and you will never see that money again. If you buy a GTS you have a better chance of getting some if not most of your money back....

the only visual queue that mine is not a GTS is the rear S4 bumper cover which I prefer over the GTS version.....

That is not something for the weak of heart, nor the strong of head I suspect.
Did insurance help you pay for yours?

Jerry,

I have opened a stock 87 engine that had bead blasting material left in the intake destroy it. All cylinder walls were sanded down, piston walls were sanded down, the oil color was gray. The crank shaft looked good, main and rod bearing were slightly damaged, only some of them. If anything, the glass material would get imbedded in the soft bearing material before they could damage the crank surface. The camshafts looked perfect. Lifter walls were sanded down. Do not remember how the oil pump or the surface of the block were the pump rides looked, my job was to just take it apart. The engine would not start anymore, due to excessive bead blasting material getting between the valve and valve seat, reducing compression.
