I want the same as I bought from 928 Int. 3 months ago. No DUST No SQUEAL. I have not 1 complaint! Oh yea and it stops.

I think all the street pads are near the same. (except for dust factor) ive used many of them on my street bmw, and 928, racing, started with the mintex. (sucked), then went to pagid orange, (better) and then Black. (best). HOWEVER, i havent tried the very expensive Hawks HT14s, and the DTC70s that are supposed to have even more grip and bit and less fade, which i still have on my race car. turn 2 at laguna, the only way i can make the turn is to have a brake, brake release, brake release and big early turn in. im hoping that the DTC70s might fix that, and then next step, will be the 14" rotors.

on my gts race car i use pagid black on the front and pagid orange on the rear. never any fade even after a hour flat out round spa stopping the old girl. i use pagid black on the front and blue on the rear in the gt2 race car as well, both cars very noisy(squeaking) when hot but thats not a issue on track, only stopping fast is! i swear by them on track. i race against so many people who suffer brake fade because of inadequate pads causing heat to travel into the fluid, ebc green and red spring to mind.

performance friction have a great reputation here in the uk on cup cars, probably on other applications as well. any one use these on a 928?

I use Hawk Plus[?- if that is the correct name]- guess I am a bit addicted to them. Maybe the name is Street Plus? On my late S4 I found they made quite a noticeable difference. On my current GTS and even with the big wheels, they are a bit over the top for street use grip wise [ABS kicks in and our tarmac formulation is not too grippy becuase of the formulation used to protect against the high temps here]. I find they are not bad on dust and the only problem is they squeal like a bitch on light braking, traffic etc- but they sure do stop!

Cannot compare to stock as I fitted new discs/pads as I aquired the car.

Am I correct to understand Textars are the OEM manufacturer [if so nothing wrong with them]?

A short while ago I drove my friends S4 and was convinced there was something wrong with his brakes such was the difference between the braking feel in his car and my GTS.

I switched over from mintex to hawk. Mintex as mentioned before made allot of dust, however they worked really well. The hawks produces much less dust but for what ever reason i'm not getting the stopping power I once had. Which is interesting considering everyone else that is using them seems to like them.

Remember Hawk make different grades from basic street level formulations to "I can stop Mark Anderson" type of ***** out racing grades.

I've got Mintex on now don't know what brand was on before. I changed the pucks when I replaced my MC. The car stops great, but the noise drives me crazy, and its embarassing! I don't drive my 928 enough to worry about brake dust, just wash-n-wax the car after every outing.

I had original Porsche pads and they were great stopping and not too much dust compared to my BMW. Using Mintex right now and they are OK, but the squeal drives me crazy.

Currently using EBC Red Stuff and not really impressed. Tend to leave pad deposits after extended sprited driving (i.e. feels like warped rotor, but it goes away when the brakes cool down) and they definitely are prone to fade from too much mountain driving up in the smokeys. They would be fine for pure street driving and don't make much brake dust.

I realize they are street car brakes and may not be made for track use, but I've done track days on stock 300ZX brakes in my 88 Turbo Z and not had the fade issues I've experienced with the red stuff pads. And the old 300 Turbo Z has similarly sized stock brakes and only about 150 lbs less weight.

I'l try something else on the next brake job.

I tried a variety of the usual street pads on my 85S and was still unhappy with stopping on spirited street driving/rallies. I was about to upgrade to S4 calipers and rotors and decided to try Hawk HP Plus pads (street/track compound) and they made a massive difference. Hawk claims a 40% improvement and based on my calibrated ****, I think they live up to their claim. My s-brakes seem to stop every bit as well as my S4 with standard street pads. No longer see a need for the S4 upgrade ... easily hauls my 85S down as quickly as needed with no fade after repeated hard stops (again, spirited street driving). I Also dropped a set into my 78 with stock calipers and rotors with similar improvement ... no trouble locking up the wheels with moderate pressure. The only downside is that they are kind of squeeky under light low speed braking (i.e., coming to a gentle stop on the street).
