Maybe there is a change here...? I seem to recall that the price of this was significantly higher when I got mine I think the $99 price was almost half price. At that time it was advertized just as CF... Or maybe its just a truth in advertizing thing...

Mine does not have any apparent joins anywhere but it is a little heavier than stock.

BTW if you've never taken one off - the stock bar is incredibly light - must have a very thin wall - presumably why it bends easily.

Regardless of the material my 4.5 years of having it says its a nice part - still good looking, rock solid & nicely adjustable.

Default CF Brace

I had an identical looking CF brace on my GTS when I crashed it. The bar was damaged in the accident and from memory it was actually CF and definitely wasn't a CF wrap over a metal tube. Unfortunately I only have a general picture available

DR sold these not that long ago. True carbon fiber tube with I think machined alumininum ends. Very slick piece.

Thanks, guys.

I've sent DR a message asking about his CF x-brace.

Drill hole in cap, braze Schrader valve to cap. use fuel resistant gasket between cap and rail - easy access for testing fuel pressure.
On 15 yrs no leaks.

Randy the one Chuck showed is the same as mine & while DR may have sold some - I rather think they were a different design. The one Rob shows is also different - not adjustable (or at least not in the same way).

As I said maybe this is a material change - but the damage on Chucks bar doesn't look like the way a metal tube fails under stress...

Alan.

Have a spare/used/surplus rail cap purchased from 928 International a while back.. Drilled and tapped it to 1/4-20 threads to accept a standard GM fuel pressure gauge adapter hose. Inside, I use a 1/4" brass tube ferrule instead of the ball bearing to get the seal without having to crank the nut on too tight. O-ring seals the threaded connection to the hose and gauge. Replaced with the original cap and seal for driving.

Like the Phoenix risen from the ashes - a few hi-res pics of the engine redone.

Intake, valve covers and water bridge refinished using 3-stage DupliColour process as first seen on Bill Swift's car.

Everything was replated, including the hood latch.

Intake decals by Bertrand Daoust.

Entire front end of the car was repainted. Will post some detail shots after it is polished and waxed in a couple more weeks - paint has to fully cure first.

Nice to see things in such great shape, Randy!

So... I guess a fire is a good first step for some cosmetic improvements, right?
