Roger,
The color is definitely washed out buy my cell phone camera. The color is deeper and more 2 tone I think. But I only saw it once. It does have the luggage but that could have been added
How would you determine if is a Weissach?
bye the way it would not be a deal breaker for me if it was not a Weissach if the price was right.

So maybe its the pics. Should be two tone - light and dark brown.
Original window sticker would tell you or send me the VIN and it can be checked out on PET.

I paid about $9k for the last one I bought and Sean is pouring more money into it as we speak.
First one about $6k.

So would you say yours was in comparable condition for 9k? The owner is asking 12500.

Few people would consider paying $12.5 for an 82 model 928 automatic. The miles and condition LOOK pretty good but not a highly desirable year even with the W trim package. Plus you would need to fix and paint the rear hatch....and make it match !
The 16 second 1/4 mile times and 8.5 second 0-62 MPH can be somewhat of an embarrassment if you do drive it. Rogers crystal ball sees them as highly collectable and he may well be right, I hope so

Thanks James, I completely agree. I think I might b able to get it for 10,000 but I think thats still to much.
I do welcome any additional input.

What effects the price on your car is that it is automatic (can't beleive I said that) and has rub strips. If it has the correct paperwork and the luggage a fair price would $10K to $12k. Low miles really helps but make sure it is confirmed by the paperwork or do a check on carfax. Wear on the drivers bolster and the foot pedals can also indicate more miles than waht is on the odo. Make sure it has the badge and the documents saying Weissach from the factory.

Have the aluminium ball joints been changed and then all the usual other maintainance stuff.

Remember to ask if the original wheels are available. They will not be cheap to replace.

Prices are going up for low mile special cars like this.

Thanks Roger, is the value effected positively or negatively by the automatic trans and rub strip? The interior looks really good and does not show any of the wear you mention. I was really surprised at how
nice the steering wheel is. The owner is a mechanic and said he made sure everything was perfect and had documentation. But i am not sure what he did exactly.

Negatively in both cases.

Hi Roger

I realise a Weissach is special although never seen one and the luggage is a MUST if its with the car (assuming it is a genuine Weissach)

If the Weissach luggage was missing , what would he have to pay to buy a decent matching set as presumably it would drive down/affect the price by the same relative amount ?

All the best Brett

That car is a weissach, it just looks like the seat faces have been dyed the wrong color. The door panels exhibit the correct two tone leather treatment. Car looks great other than the wheels and the extra wing.

Weissachs were available with manual or rogerboxes - I have both.

Last time I checked I had 5 or 6 complete sets of Weissach luggage and for $1200 I could be persuaded to part with a set.

I'd pay what it is worth to me. It is near impossible to set a pricing precedence for rare 928 parts. If you want it badly enough, negotiate a deal that works for both of you, and buy it. If you want to wait to find it cheap, be prepared to wait... indefinitely.
