Default 928 vs GT2RS

I was driving the old very brown 1980 on track at the Pomona Fairgrounds white 911 came up behind me and followed me through a few turns then on the next straight I pulled to the right and he just blew by....Yes GT2RS,
We talked later and he said he enjoyed running behind me and that it had helped with his lines. Then at lunch time when the "parade laps" are allowed he asked if I would like to drive his car.......I figured this is probably the only chance I would have in my life to drive a GT2RS so said YES ! ....Oh my what an awesome car. The power is mindboggling 60-100mph is just a whoosh away. Big sticky tires, ceramic brakes, centerlook wheels........3,100 lbs 600 HP and it was a manual 6 speed and yes I shifted up and down a few times. The owner was riding with me and I did see him put on the "brakes" a couple times.
You could feel the traction control kick in and the braking was phenominal.....it was probably a good thing that it was only parade laps since that thing could fly on an open track. Porsche claims 205 MPH....I think they were being conservative ! The owner was very gracious and said he enjoyed riding with me ....I know I sure enjoyed driving it.

Nice that you were able to take advantage of that great opportunity.

So... have you ordered yours yet (in very brown, of course)?

nice experience, but you still have the better looking one.

I drove my bike this morning, 90 hp 475lb.s, (equivalent to 580 hp @3100lbs ) power feels endless too and gas station visits don't clean you out.

I think you have not seen the old very brown 1980 But at the event a number of people did stop by the car to look at it and talk about 928s and the first time they saw one, or Risky Business. Several commented on how good it sounds on track. Some comments on how fast it was, most were watching at a corner. Others wondered why no other 928s were there (I had no answer). There were a number of new members and nearly all street cars total 75 on Sat about 50 Sunday. Great opportunity to drive as fast as humanly possible for 15-20 minutes at a time and do it four times a day ! Burned up about $100 of fuel
The GT2RS had no inside door handle just a little red nylon pull strap on the simple inner door panel.....nice touch !

You know, though. I would have a hard time pushing my limits in a 1/4 mil car. Much better to be in the estate or the very brown and know that you can really push and worst come to worst you are out less than a set of tires for GT2RS. Call me cheap, but I would rather total a 928 and give $240K to charity than total a GT2RS.

The owner drives it on the street just switches off the sport suspension and it is transportation.....was considering race seats and a rollbar but opted not too because he so enjoys driving it as a car !!! Nice guy, great car and believes that Porsche cars are MADE to be driven and driven at speed. I probably should have taken him out in the 928 but it seemed somewhat pointless. I wonder if he will be at a POC event at Autoclub Speedway in Fontana....that thing should do 180 MPH there, no problem.

Very cool James! Thanks for sharing, err, thanks to him for sharing, err, you know what I mean.

Not as cool a story as yours, but I bumped into a GT3RS sitting in a field full of tents and campers at my kids horse camp this summer. Met the owner, real nice guy, he's racking up a bunch of miles daily driving his RS. He's obviously not afraid to take it out of the garage.

Had to share this note from the head of the POC ...Performance Driving series....."Thank you Jim. I always enjoy seeing you and really appreciate your help with tech.

P.S. She maybe getting a little older, like all of us, and maybe isn’t as powerful as these new models, but I still say nobody sings better going down a straight away. Every time you went by I had to look over and smile. "

He is a dedicated 911 Racer but seems like he understands
