I posted about this a few years back. I was changing jets on the Espada, and had the plugs out. Bad combo, one of the brass main jets went down the hole. I used a borescope, a piece of wire and some elephant snot glue to get it out. That was a tense few hours.

This thread reminds me of that scene when James Bond deactivates the warhead...

Where do I get more of the caps? I have 19# ford injectors, single hole
I am however, planning on just getting it when I pull the head.

I bought a bunch of caps from these guys: (actually I bought Design III caps from them - but they carry all styles)

They don't carry the correct lower o-ring for the S4 - but they do have all manner of caps.
You can buy the correct Bosch part # lower S4 o-ring from John Speake - bosch number is "1 280 210 765" (this is the part provided in the Porsche injector seal kit - brown Viton).

I don't know how common the cap falling off problem is with 928s, but I recently did my 944 and was looking around on the 944 list. Apparently the caps in the Bosch rebuild kits do not fit well and the caps fall off all the time. Other people (i.e. rennbay) make rebuild kits that fit much bettter and the caps do not fall off. By 'fall off' I mean that if you try to pull the injector out of the hole, the cap will almost always be left behind, so you have to pull the manifolds off with the injectors in place and then push the injectors out from underneath. Anybody know if this is a common problem on the 928 injector rebuild kits?

When I did my intake I got bits of paint flakes and old plastic connector down into the top of a valve. My solution was to get some nice sticky bubblegum and holding it in a four jaw grabber used it to mop up the loose bits. Worked extremely well.

AFAIK, the caps are not necessary. They protect the end of the injector when handling/installing, but they don't affect the spray pattern. I mentioned the 87 that kept eating them. We finally just left them off, although I subsequently realized why they were getting knocked off and eaten. Anyway, the car is still riding around happily with no caps on the injectors.

So perhaps just pull off the caps on the rest when I re-install them? Pulling the heads saturday.

Doc I rode in an Urraco as a boy and it was unforgettable .... close cousin to the Espada. Lovely classics now. At the time, it was the fastest, most thrilling joyride I had ever had. My dad was a Porsche man, so the Urraco was incredibly different and cool.
