Default Dropped in spark plug hole!

Took my injectors out and one of the injector caps fell into the intake. I took the intake off and got the cap back. It fell out of my hand and . . . . shot down the spark plug hole, with the plug out.

Normally I would be devastated but . . . I am doing a head gasket job so I think Phil the God of Insufficient Light has been thwarted this time. Just get it when I pull the head off.

That would give me nightmares. I would duct tape a piece of vinyl tubing to a shop vac hose and pull it out anyway, just so I could sleep in peace.

Attach a small hose to the end of your shop-vac hose (with duct tape or something) and vacuum it out through the spark plug hole.

Have you considered taping a length of rubber hose to your shop vac and vacuuming it out through the spark plug hole?

If it was me, I'd use my shop vac with a rubber hose to turn the car upside down.

I would try to find a way to snare it, but I can tell you the engine will eat that thing and spit it out without any problem. I worked on an 87 that ate 6 of them.

No way that will work. You need a specially-trained cockroach.

Those pintle caps seem to fall in all the time. I have a four jawed grabber that will go in the spark plug hole so I usually try to grab them and pull them out, but it is just because I like it that way. They will get chewed up and shat out by the cylinder just fine without causing any problems. At least I have never had any problems with them going through. Not sure what they do to the cat.
