After about 8 months of trying to figure out why the car was running so badly the problem has been solved. It was........
the fuel distributor. It had an adjustable Mercedes FD on it when I got it and I was never able to get it up to full power no matter how hard I tried. I finally found a 83 Euro S fuel distrib on ebay for around $70. When I got it some of the outlets on top were full of crud so no way it was going on my car without being taken apart and cleaned. I did this and everything looked great inside so I replaced the o-rings and put it back together. It seeps a little fuel where the halves come together but I will take it back out and go ahead and use the Indian Head Shellac later. I thought it would seal without it but it doesn't. Well I put it in along with my in spec WUR and went for a test drive. So this is what it's supposed to be like(see video). Now I will get myself in trouble. Feels great to get this thing up to power. Does anyone want to buy a Mercedes Benz adjustable fuel distributor? Carl sells them as an upgrade. Gunar
(I bought this car a little over a year ago and refreshed it and had to replace the motor with one from a 1980 Euro S. This motor was cleaned, resealed and heads done. It wouldn't start so had to take the motor back out and re-ring it because the old rings where stuck in the lands. Restored the interior on a budget and my brother and I repainted it last Christmas.)

Love it:

Its a boat load of work, but there is nothing much like it. I took a buddy out in mine recently. He is used to American iron, so it took him a while to learn to stay with the revs rather than shifting at 2500 or so. Torque on the bottom like the iron, but it just keeps going and getting better and better as you rev.

Drove it again tonight. This thing is scary fast and can get me in so much trouble. It is a beast and a refined hot rod all in one. Gunar
