Hairy pits and such on the side for now ,
I am thinking that, now that we know it "fits", the challenge Aspkiller will face is the usual conversion stuff I read about:
I am thinking that, now that we know it "fits", the challenge Aspkiller will face is the usual conversion stuff I read about:
- Mount points for the tranny to our cross member (cradle)
- Half-shaft lengths, and
- Coming up with a unique half-shaft with a Corvette CV Joint on the inboard/tranny end and a Porsche 928 CV Joint on the outboard/wheel hub end.

There are several sets of ratios depending on which trans you get. Also a couple of different diff ratios.
Base C5/C6, C6 Z06:
2.66 1.78 1.30 1.00 0.74 0.50
C5 Z06:
2.97 2.07 1.43 1.00 0.84 0.56
C6 Z51:
2.97 2.07 1.43 1.00 0.71 0.57

Here are some combined ratios for comparison. While there are many different combinations available with various Corvette boxes, this is the one we are testing first. It falls in between the 2.73and the 2.2 of the Porsche. Change the diff ratio and you can get just about anywhere you might want to go. Selecting a different stock tranny will also let you customize your performance to the motor you're running or might use in the future. One of the benefits of the Vette tranny is the availability of reasonably priced parts, not just the ability to handle more power. Of course, actually finding the gear you're looking for is another advantage of the Corvette.
I think these are correct. Please advise any mistakes on my part.
Just checked the post and see that the numbers are pretty crowded. Oh well.

1st 2.66 9.10 10.28 8.95
2nd 1.78 6.09 6.86 5.97
3rd 1.30 4.45 4.89 4.25
4th 1.00 3.42 3.70 3.22
5th 0.74 2.53 2.73 2.20
6th 0.50 1.71 n/a n/a

Code:
3.42 2.73 2.20 1st 2.66 9.10 10.28 8.95 2nd 1.78 6.09 6.86 5.97 3rd 1.30 4.45 4.89 4.25 4th 1.00 3.42 3.70 3.22 5th 0.74 2.53 2.73 2.20 6th 0.50 1.71 n/a n/a
Use the "code" tag for this kind of stuff.
