I remember questioning this at the time as its not clamped but the other are. IIRC some folks said that it was how the factory assembled the intake but it didnt make sense to me...still doesnt.
BTW its a Porsche hose.....not good for the confidence going forward. I'll read Dwaynes intake epic...see what he found.

For completion:
the bad.....the split hose caused all sorts of bad idling issues especially when stone cold, when warm it idled fine but high. The car has also 'smelled' rich despite having the injectors rebuilt and other intake work but it is run with no cats and no air pump.
the solution......the intake is now fully rebuilt, again and to be super **** the rear fuel damper, the fuel regulator and the fuel injectors (4 hole Ford) were replaced as were the ISV and TPS, throttle plate brgs, cables, gaskets etc etc.
the great......the car now idles perfect, smooth and without the rich smell. Its now +10 years that I've owned it at cant recall it running better.
Looking forward to a great driving spring, summer and fall.
BTW.....I didn't buy the Camaro

No happy solution to this --I just spent the better part of a Sun afternoon replacing a dead high tone horn in the pass wheel. How much use could the horn have endured in this car??? 67,000 of the miles were in California. Absolutely clean and dry in the compartment. Shiny connectors uder their boot; I cleaned them, still dead. It's what we do, I guess.
New horn = $54, Pep Boys = $19. I might have paid the $$, but with all the hassle, I went with PBoys and got it done in one aft.

FWIW, I pulled a split ISV hose out of a '91 a couple of weeks ago. It was a year old.
So, I too have to wonder if there was a bad batch of those ISV hoses.
When I put the new one on I heated it up first, so that it was very pliable and then clamped it - but not too tight.

Is it possible that the new hose is slightly shorter as Porsche wanted the ISV to be slightly moved so that it was easier to pull the plug off it? And that no readjusting the location of the ISV is putting too much pressure on that hose?

Happily, I have never had to replace mine, but I can think of a few cars I have worked on that might be having a problem around now. ARGH!

Colin, yes, it is by 1/2 inch. Brought that up with Roger to have a chat with Porsche about. Hence the reason I stuck my original back on.

I guess what we learn from this is that quality dose count, even when it comes to something as simple as a hose.
Even at the dealer we found a lot of fraud parts, they normally come in a "white box" with no brand name markings.
Glad you got yours up and running Malcolm.

SeanR,
thank you for confirming on that.
Now the question remains, I know that you can loosen and then adjust the location of the clamp on the ISV. Is there enough room to move it 1/2" without interfering with something else?
Do you know that answer Sean?
