FWIW there was a rash of these hose failures for some reason they had a very hi Failure rate on the replacement parts.

it does suck to have to remove the intake to fix it, use a clamp on both ends

NOTE try soaking the new hose in boiling water for about 5 mins then let it cool before you install it that should remove some of the stress in the rubber

I wonder if this hose suffers the same quality problems as the hose that connects the in-tank fuel pump to the pump insert. It seems like those also only last 2 years.

Stan........thx for the advice but with all due respect to you this is not acceptable.

I paid top doller for this hose and all other for this to happen I'd have been better off leaving the old hoses in place.

I originally did the intake refresh to renew the knock sensors but determined that I'd do a total intake refresh as I didnt want to repeat the effort anytime soon. I dont blame the vendor but Porsche themselves for their **** poor quality control.

The supecharged Camaro is looking better and better:

God I hate to say it but that is a good looking car even if I have my eye on a Nissan GTR right now.

The last time - about two years ago - I pulled one of those hoses out of the bag I took a look at it - there seemed to be a seam along the length of the hose and it didn't look right. Gave me a bad feeling. I didn't replace the original as it was still nice and flexible. I didn't like the apparent quality of the new part. I haven't replaced a good original hose since.

I have another one here in a bag. It's green. Don't like it a bit.

Dave........I just had a good look at the damaged 'new' hose and yes it has a seam down the middle......I'll try to get a good pic of it. Also be searching through the 'old' parts bin for the original hose and compare.

Moral of this story; just because its new it'll still let you down.

Malcolm, good news your problem was obvious to find. When I (we!!) did mine last year I replaced that hose as it looked like the original hose was in place. There were no clamps on it, so I guess there were no hose clamps put on during manufacture? Could it be possible you didnt replace that hose last time and had original hose left in place?? It would explain why it failed. Otherwise a 10km hose failure is worrying!

If the rubber looks and feels fresh, I'd re-use it honestly. Inspection is part of maintenance, and replacement is not always advised.
