In your last post you said "you are not going to give this engine away". I am a little confused, are you helping someone part this to recover loss, or did you buy it from them, or the insurance company?

I now own it. Hacker told me that I couldn't try and sell pieces off of someone else's car (He is a Rennlist member, but doesn't want to be involved). No big deal...it all ends up the same....I bought the car, this afternoon. Personally. Not associated with my shop.
Not sure this really matters...nor is really any of anyone's business...but in an effort to have "total" disclosure:
The customer got a relatively small settlement from the insurance company and got the car back, due to the "low payout"....this accident happened months ago....and was a pretty big fight. I'm helping him to try and recover part of his investment. Together, we "projected" a total desired "return". The engine is substancial part of that "return".
The "freshening" is actually a completely separate transaction...but I'm in control of the engine and it won't be sold without being fresh....that is my requirement. I don't want someone to buy this engine, go try and beat the crap out of it and have something fail. I think that would be a poor reflection on me...even though it has 45,000 miles on it and the warranty is long over.
I'd much rather make it perfect and give someone something that they can enjoy and rely on, while still spending fifty cents on the dollar.

Thanks for the clarification. I just do not want someone pretending to be doing someone a favor, when in fact they are doing it for profit. I sure am not saying there is anything wrong with profit, it just needs to be disclosed honestly. I am sure you will admit that your statements did look a little contradictory. Again, thanks for the clarification and good luck with your sales.

I'm going to assume the insurance company valued the car as stock, high mileage, non-special consideration for it's condition or mods. I'm sure it was probably close to under half the real value. Maybe even a third.

The wheels are from a Cayenne or something...Very nice looking. The owner is keeping them, for his next 928....yes, he is looking at doing it again.
