I remember "Andrew Olsen " ???I think was going to make his shark fuel friendly for etoh, I researched 2 yrs ago and the best mix with most btu per volume was gas with 30 % ethanol in it. (that is comparing straight gas with 10-----90% etoh mixes)

ok well they're predicting 5.00/gallon gas by summer.as a whole we need an alternative.the boats may stay on land and the vette motor isn't done yet.lol, this could be my only summer toy this year.i have noticed in two of my small engines, snow blowerand generator the carbs gummed up with a green varnish in only a few months of sitting.

You should point out the primary purpose of that car, it's not going to get groceries
Right now the average price of e85 nationwide is just shy of $3 per gallon. That will go up with the price of "regular" gas.
An otherwise stock 928 will see about a 30% drop or more in MPG on e85. Figure that into your calculations and figure out if you are really going to save much if anything after paying for the conversion.
Reminds me of my friends who ran out to buy a $35,000+ gas sipper when gas prices spiked. All of them got rapped on the trade in for their SUV.
None of them were very happy with me when I pointed out it will take 8+ years to simply break even with the new gas mileage.
If the government pulls it's head out of its *** and realizes subsidizing a food crop for fuel is a terrible idea and drops the subsidies, the cost of e85 will be more than regular gas.
My friends in the auto repair business are looking forward to the added business as people once again start to pour e85 into cars not made for it thinking the will be saving money.

The Problem is Greed and Gov in bed with big business.
Our Governments stick there noses in to places the people don't want.
Isn't it by the people for the people. ya right
I don't know if its the man or the group that tell him what to do.
But Big Oil control the Gov and the market, the auto industry, and most everything else.
New forms of energy that try to break through get bought out and the price of gas goes up.
a war breaks out in another country and the price goes up.
The prince gets married and the price goes up.
A solar flare happens and the price goes up.
Not to sound like a downer, but, It is going to get way worse.
(may I be so bold) if the people of the United States, took back control of their country, we would all be much better.
I do not follow politics, and I am sorry if my humble opinion gets some hair up, its not my intention.
We are all friends and up here in Canada we would need to do the same, but we can't until you guys start because we need to do it together.
Some say they are to big and it can't be done.
Sorry, thats my rant.
BTW I work for one of them, and its a good job, But ...

General Motors is building an ethanol plant in Melbourne Australia with two other partners. The fuel is going to be made from waste products, not directly food crops. This should be a good thing. They already sell some of their cars ethanol 85% ready.
Personally I run my car on LPG, I don't want to send my funds to the Saudi Prince who would like to see me and the family dead because I don't have the same religious beliefs as him.
I have looked into converting the 928 to LPG but it would require some custom tanks and maybe lose the rear seats. I don't really like the idea of a tank to close to the rear of the car. Inside the wheel base would be better and safer. For racing with LPG or "gas" they use carbon fibre tanks which are much lighter and in the British Touring Car Championship the LPG car is very fast in a straight line.
We are going to be paying a very high price for petrol in the next 5 to 10 years and it makes me sick to spend a fortune now on doing up the car and then buy fuel at $3 per liter. it is $1.50 now. We have a heap of gas here in Australia, so it is a great option here at least.

P.S on the other political issues, the problems are too big and the way politics works is the messenger gets shot and blamed. It needs to properly hit the fan to make them do the right thing. Tea Party is probably on the right track but even it wont have the guts to implement the heavy cuts needed to balance the budget which is simple terms is just paying the bills like we all have to do.

Other countries use sugarcane which produces far more ethanol per acre than corn. Common switchgrass and even hemp are better sources for ethanol than corn. Pretty much anything would be a better source......which begs the question: "why is the US primarily using corn to produce e85?" Go ask the congressmen from Iowa....
