Default PKlamp and Super Clamp

I currently have a PKlamp on my car. I plan on having Constantine rebuild a TT and swap it out with mine with his core program in late March or April before Spring gets here and I want to drive on my Summer tires.

Can I get some input from the peanut gallery on if the PKlamp (no movement in driveshaft for a year now) is good enough or do I spend another $300 on the Super Clamp (sure is pretty I'll give you that) while I have the TT out of the car?

I am leaning to the Super Clamp just because it looks cool but I think I need a better reason than that. If I do decide to go to the Super Clamp, I'll have a PKlamp for sale on Rennlist. So any takers mention it now.

I've been contemplating a PKlamp, so if you go the route of the superclamp put me in line for the removed PKlamp.
Thanks

If you are having the TT out and rebuilt, you might as well get the Super clamp. Never have to worry about it again.

For my own car, I'd just use the Pklamp, but I'm a cheap *** and I know it is good enough.

I put a PKlamp on when nothing is apart.

I use the Constantine piece when anything is apart.

I've had neither slip.

However, I consider the PKlamp to be a good "patch" until it is convenient to "replace".

I think of it this way:

A tire with a patch might hold air, but I'm not going to go run the Silverstate Race, with it....

I think you answered your own question ...

... and from the experience of others it seems both of them work well.

I think someone did see a little bit of movement with the pklamp. So, I think it is a big help, and a great idea, but with the pklamp I would not stop checking once in a while. With the Constantine clamp, I would just call it done and not feel like I needed to look at it again.

If you are pulling the TT and money is no object then there is no subsitute - go for the Superclamp.
I sell the PKlamp and have it fitted to my cars with zero movement. We also recomend it is checked every 12 to 18 months.
You could also be super cheap and use Loctite - zero movement as well on all the cars I used it on - and that after 5 years and many thousands of miles.
Contary to popular stories it is also easy to release with a little heat.
Just my 5cents.

You might want to do a search on this. The pkclamp has a really good reputation and is a vast improvement to stock, but there was a recent post that had some photodocumentation of some minor movement even with the pkclamp. So its still something to watch. If everything is out and cost is not a concern, may want to go with superclamp.

IIRC, it was a problem with the rear clamp which bowed the flexplate, the PKlamped front clamp didn't move?

As I read the information in the link below, Bill reported a slight movement at one point in March 2010, but later in July 2010 saw no further movement and seems happy with it.

That's good. I have them on a pair of 32V cars.

Also, have a car with Constantine's clamp (had the TT out for trans swap -- perfect time to install the 'locker' clamp of his.)

It was me. I had 0 movement with the PKlamp, but I did have a few mm flex plate preload. This was due to me loosening and re torquing the rear clamp while it had flex plate preload applied. I should have released the front clamp first.

Thanks for the info. I've not seen any movement in any of the cars I've installed the Pklamp on. That might change as the years go by, but so far I'm happy.
