Carsten, What is the part number for the wiper arms on your car as modified by your mechanic originally??? I think the part number on the new arms you obtained are for the left arm, but I think that the arms used in your original conversion are the right arms, with a different part number ending in an even number.

I think that the original conversion is the one that will result in the nicest low profile conversion, and perhaps with a slight jog in the outer arm, perhaps when it is shortened, that will solve the problem of hitting the lower windshield trim in third gear.

It is my impression that the other wiper arms you have recently obtained kind of defeat the whole purpose of the conversion; that is, except for the tighter spring on the windshield in faster driving in the rain.

I have also found that the Lupo arms will be virtually impossible to obtain in the US. With the correct number one might be able to have a contact in Europe obtain a pair and ship them here. Before I try that I want to be sure that I have the correct part number for the arms on your car after the original conversion. Thanks.

77Tony did it on the blue car that I think he sold. He apparently did it with the parts you sent him from Germany. I'm not sure if he has done it on his brown car shown in his avatar, but it kind of looks like it. Look at the other thread I bumped for Randy about this modification.

Again, I learn something new or unique about my car. I needed to replace the cap on the arm connection and Roger couldn’t help. I found a VW cap fit and now I know why. If anyone has questions I will try to help. I’m away now, but when I get back I will take pics. I Don’t believe these arms were shortened or altered in any way to fit.

I picked up a used windshield sil at Marks sale. Plan is to weld up the holes and have the part painted with the rest of the car and then remove the wiper running gear. In the climate I live in it rarely rains and I can count the number of times I have driven in any substantial rain on 2 fingers. I use the wipers in the carwash just to exercise them. After new paint, the car will never see a car wash... . So..the wipers are coming out just for the sake of customization. It can all be put back to stock if I need to in a few hours I’m sure and I will have the original sil with new paint on it also.

Each their own

Bump again. I bumped this thread again because the question came up again about replacing the Wiper Arms from another car. This thread is about replacing them with the VW Lupo arms; but there is no mention of anything about WS washers going along with it.
