I also performed a similar mod about 6 months ago using the wiper heads from a ford focus and the arms from the 928

as the heads are metal and essentially crimped on to the arms - all I had to do was separate the heads from the ford arms and recrimp on to the 928 arms after the hook portion was cut off and removed. a little careful bending and voila

Tools required
Hacksaw
Vice
Chisel
Hammer
6 Ton Press

a little fiddly but sleeker than the bosch icon options with the big plastic lump in the middle

Shot these tonight from a 2011 Jetta. Looks the same to me.

Sorry, it was a bit dark and I didn't have the good camera along.

The Jetta has the wiper under the arm and the lupo GTI has the wiper behind the arm.

Just removing the wipers isn't a true delete, you'll still have the unsightly connections sticking up and it will look like something is missing.

If you were willing to redesign the cowl and hide the wipers that would be cool but that could be a huge undertaking.

Is there a way you could make it such that the stud portion is part of the wiper arm instead of it sticking out of the body? That would allow for a relatively clean shaven look with the ability to be functional when needed.

Ok, I see that now.

How doy ou think will that affect using them on the 928 (the Jetta units). I like the looks of them over the Lupo's.
If my local Euro parts supplier can get a set for a not so astronomical price I'll do some test fitting.

Any excuse to wander around the local pick-n-pull

A friend of mine flew out to the west coast to drive back a hot rod he had bought that didn't have wipers. I made him promise that if he ran into rain he would park and not drive. He lied,. He was in Indiana when the sudden thunderstorm hit, crossed over to the other side of the interstate, he and the car were crushed when a tractor trailer ran over the car. His youngest daughter, just starting HS was devastated, more so than his oldest college age daughter and his wife.

I don't get it. Why change the arms - they don't look very different from the originals.

The arm / wiper combo is a lot lower profile, doesn't have all of those angled / spring arms that hold the actual blade.

Looks more modern, which is what Tony is looking for. Subtle yes, but so are a lot of other touches to this project.
