I'm running the 18x8 and 10's with 235/40-18's and 265/35-18's. Love them!

I'm trying to rationalize purchasing a set for sale locally while at the same time spending a fortune on Christmas presents, a bathroom remodel, and a rec room for the kids. Probably the worst time to buy a new set of wheels, but they are available and the price is right.

Arghhh...the pics in this thread are not helping. LOL!

Ed,

If you figure out how to do that let me know. There is no way I'll be able to when my wife sees perfectly good Cup 1 wheels on mine....I'm drawn to the pics also "MUST HAVE!"

Ha ha, I'll keep you posted.

I have TWO sets of perfectly good replica twists in my garage. They are just not in the best shape, one set is polished (poorly), the other set needs a painting. Plus I have two more rear 10 x 18 twists that I am planning to mix and match with one of the sets so I can run 10's all around at the track (one of these days).

My only hope is to convince the wife I can sell one of the sets of twists to help offset the price of the C III's.

Of course her response will be - why don't you sell a set first?

But its all about timing, the C III's I want to buy will be gone by then.

Of course she is correct, but I'm somewhat immature when it comes to my hobbies and want them NOW.

I like mine. I have two sets, one original 997 wheels and one cheap Italian knock-offs. I
use the 997 wheels when racing (with new tires) and the others on the street (with the
previous seasons race tires). I have Michelin PS2 235/40 ZR18 (Y) on the front and
275/40 ZR18 (Y) on the rear.

By the way, here is a photo with the knock-offs:

(they have the blue valve stem covers and plastic Porsche crest center caps)

I haven't looked for a while, but that should be readily available I think.

One point. I don't know about the knock offs, but the OE wheels seem to be fairly prone to dents. I have two wheels (one front, one rear) that are slightly dented/out of round from pot-holes. Will get them fixed this spring.

I got them on ebay from this guy:

http://stores.ebay.com/wheelsandcaps

They were about $500 and according to the ad "These wheels exceed all
TUV, DOT, JWL, & VIA standards". I don't know if they do, but for general
street use, I figured they were fine. I wouldn't trust them in a race..

They don't seem to have any available right now, so I don't know how readily
you could get them.

I have the exact same wheels on my 89 with 225/40/18 and 285/30/18 and have about a half inch clearance without the fenders rolled. I have used sumitomo HTRIII, and Dunlop Sport Maxx tires.

I have the same wheels and tire sizes. I recently went to back to a stock muffler (on long trips the rmb drone is really tiring) and the inside tire came within half a cm on the bridge, but with the wheels on the ground the clearance is about 1,5 cm. So even that works with 10 inch rims and 285/35.
