If I bought a part, and had to install it to determine that it was defective, I would certainly want all my money back should I not choose to continue down that same path. You probably won't know if the next one works until it's installed, either.
If I were in this situation and the vendor/supplier had shipped me a defective part, and I had made the supplier/vendor aware that the part was defective and the vendor/supplier refused to completely refund for a defective part, I would take it up with the credit card company.
If I had paid someone to put the defective part on, I might even go to my local small claims court in an attempt for reimbursement for the labor. I guess it just depends on how bad the vendor/supplier ticked me off.

The one issue I see here is that the owner now has to disassemble the suspension. And then either reinstall the old arms which are being replaced for a reason, only to do it all again to possibly have a further issue.
Or he takes it all out, and then leaves it apart for say 2 weeks while the part is inspected and returned.
Should he be using a shop to do this work, he will be out all the money for them to install it, and then they will demand to have a replacement part to reinstall as the car cannot hold up a hoist for the time it might take to have it rebuilt/exchanged. Then we also need to understand as to what level of confidence the customer will or will not have in the part. I think this latter part is very important.
I know that when the ones in my car fail, I will either make my own, or send factory arms to Mike Simard to have him work his magic on.
When one is dealing with an integral part like this, where should it fail, it will cause catastrophic damage.
I can understand the owners reluctance to even try new ones, when he can simply phone 928intl and get a rebuilt arm from them which have a 100% proven track record.
Now I haven't checked your store in awhile. But I had heard you were stocking and shipping the 928 upper rebuilt arms yourself. Why not offer a pair of these instead?
Also as a local note, I have gotten parts from local venders. Then installed and determined to be defective, and they reimbursed all my money, no questions asked.

You cannot expect to buy car parts, install them, and then say "I want my money back".
It does not work like that. If I take a car part into my local auto parts store after it has been installed and say "its no good"- they give me another one.... I don't get my money back.

just checked the site,
http://www.928motorsports.com/parts/upperarm.php
it appears as though they do carry the rebuilt upper a-arms for your model year.
Maybe check that they are indeed the 928 intl rebuilt ones, as that I am not sure of.

For street use, I'd go with rebuilt upper control arms - 928intl uses a rebuilder (in germany from memory?) to get them done professionally.

edit: lol.. was doing other stuff in another app while writing that, and seems other posters got there first

The International A-arms are the only ones I will use, or install on customers cars.

I'm betting I've set-up and built more race cars than race cars you've actually touched. And yes, I do know a hell of a lot about suspension. Call Cary at ERP and ask him what I know....
Quit trying to defend yourself and give this poor guy his money back. He doesn't want a store credit...he's another, in a long list of people, that will never buy anything from you again....what is he going to do with a store credit?
I'm not here as a vendor....I'm here as a 928 individual that tries to help people with their cars. When was the last time you came on Rennlist and "brain stormed" to help someone try and fix their car? When was the last time you offered any advise, at all? When was the last time you even participated in a thread that wasn't about promoting you or your own stuff?
Listen...you might be a vendor and pay more money than I do...but when Rennlist becomes about paying money and not about the people and their cars...I'll gladly leave....along with the majority of the people that are here. They won't have to ask.
Carl.....you've got to make this stuff work and fit, before it leaves your hands! There should never be a reason for someone to need to return something, for you to inspect it...that should happen before it leaves you! Exhaust, sway bars, head gaskets...the list of things you've made that people get and can't figure out how to make it fit is virtually endless. Do a search of Rennlist...it's like looking at a trainwreck.
Carl.....get some original ideas and quit copying everything that other people figure out. Maybe then you will have some credibility. There's an entire thread running about the oiling issues with 928 engines...which I've made some major "inroads" to fixing. I can not show everyone what we've done and how we've gone about fixing this...because I know damn well that you will copy the idea and pretend like this is your own "discovery".
Carl.....I'm not your problem.
You are your own problem.

You know guys I am not picking a side but I have noticed something.
If I went to a shop and asked them to replace a part or fix something and they had to install it 3 different times to get a good one. That is the shops problem to take up with their supplier.
But as a mechanic, at home, when I had to make 3 trips to NAPA for an alternator till I got a good wilson rebuild for a Datson, then I have to suck it up because I am doing my own R&R. The labor part you can never complain about because it is ... um ... back yard mechanics.
The NAPA shop I was dealing with was really good and had a tester to spin them up on and so when I brought the second one back we tested it to make sure that I wasn't missing something. We tested the 3rd one before I left because ILL be %$#@ that I was going to make a 4th trip to town.
Just an observation that Ya it really sucks, and sometimes stuff happens.
Glad to here that it is settled

If this was my issue we would fully refund the cost and the shipping and no questions asked and add a full apology. Just so you have a base line Dan. Normal practice with most companies I deal with.
Buy the A arms from Mark at 928 International as they are better than new. I have sold a lot of them and customers cannot believe the quality.
