Default Replacement Spare Tire Cover

Replaced the original spare tire cover with Jerry's replacement spare tire cover. A perfect fit and a great improvement over the stock one!

A well-designed product. Many thanks to Jerry for his diligence and innovation in making this available.

Thanks, David. That is an outstanding post and excellent pictures. I hope everyone who has one of these has had the same success you have with this Spare tire cover of mine.

I have ordered a couple more sheets of 3/16 ABS plastic so I can make some more of these, It will be here Monday or Tuesday, so I'll be having more of these towards the end of the week and well before Xmas.

Thanks again.

Thanks Jerry. You didn't mention if you had a spare tire cover to fit the 86 available? Randy, I am pretty sure it is right side up as the rubber molding on the front fits perfectlly. However, thinking back, I believe that this car came without one and the one I have was from my 88. I had removed it to do the intake stuff and after the fire it just got put aside. Anyone know if there is any difference in the year/models?

Thanks,

Yes I have a spare tire cover that fits your car. Or, I will have some more of them this week when the material comes in and I can make some more.

The Cowl Cover you put on your 86 from your 88 has an opening at the drivers end for the intensive washer that you have up by your radiator and not in your cowl area. I have devised a suitable cover for your car that does not have the opening for the washer. I also have a new cowl seal, if you need it, and I have replicated all of the 4 versions of the Shell Sticker that goes on most of these covers. My Stickers are period correct and are very hard to tell from the originals.

What did you discover about the mounting tabs under the rear of your metal cowl trim that I memtioned?

Look at the other thread about these Covers and you will become much better educated about them.

See the other thread alll about these Cowl Covers. It is still on this page of this forum.

Frank, I bumped the Thread about the Cowl Cover again for you, so I hope you will take the time to read it and bring yourself up to date. All of the information is in there, I think.

Thanks Jerry, Sorry, I haven't looked at the tabs yet. I can tell you that I didn't know about them. I am not to well these days and don't spend nearly as much time on the car as I would wish. I would give anything to have some of the energy you seem to put into your projects. I am impressed with your drive and tenacity. You are the kind of person I always liked to work with. I will let you know soon on when I will have the funds available. You want to send me an email at fbarnhilll@yahoo.com with a price on the new cowel cover, spare tire cover, proper shell stickers and shipping to NC 27529? I don't think I need a new seal as the one I have is almost perfect.

Thanks,

The Cowl Cover I ordered from Jerry last year is first class!! Well built, fits perfectly, and looks great!! Porsche would be jealous!! Now if I had only known about the spare tire cover at the time I would have ordered both!!

Keep up the great work Jerry!!

Thanks, Walt , for the Positive feedback on my product.

I have some 3/16 inch Black ABS Plastic on order from my supplier, and he said it may be here today or tomorrow. Then I can make some more Spare Tire Covers, since I sold what I had last week as a result of bumping this thread. Then I am going to have a whole bunch to send to Australia when I get them formed.

The way that I package my items makes it less than feasible to try to package the Cowl Cover and the Spare Cover together. The only way would be to tape the two packages together. The problem with that for an international shipment is that the combined package will exceed the max measurement, length plus girth. The cost of S&H for Canada is $35 for the Spare Tire Cover. I'll have one available early next week if the material gets here early this week, if you are still interested.

The total for you in Canada would be $75 plus $35, for $110 together. You can Paypal to my email:

jfeather@bresnan.net

Thanks again.

Jerry, man that is great. Sounds like you are doing pretty well. I find the prices quite fair and completely understand the shipping issue. I would prefer them shipped seperately rather than taped together as I believe they will find a way to be broken otherwise.

You will hear from me soon, I hope.

Thanks,

Jerry

I hope you're sitting down. It looks like Len Zech on behalf of Landsharkoz is about to place an order for 30+ of these. You may have a busy Christmas holiday.

Hi Jon. Leonard and I have been in close communication about his endeavor to put together a large shipment or shipments, as it were, in order to save substantially on the international shipping. I enhanced my order for material yesterday because of it, but now I have to do that again because the count this morning is up to 32. Ain't it great!

I picked up the first order of material today and placed an order for some additional. I'll start processing this material this evening and try to finish up two or three of these tonight so I can ship the two that are paid for tomorrow. Thanks Dan for your order.

At last count, yesterday, we were up to 40 for the AU order and kind of expecting a couple of more from stragglers. No additional count this morning, however.

I have 19 of these formed and fabbed up to the point of final hand finish. I have most of the material to complete these and will pick up the balance today. It was a light week at the office so I was able to take off mid afternoon and get started on these that last three days and work into the evening to about 9:00pm. I also finished and shipped the two orders that had been paid for in the last few days. They were shipped yesterday, Thursday.

One nice byproduct of this adventure is that it is getting me into the right mood and mode to go into production with the WW Liners that are just about there. In fact I hope to do some final things on that project also this weekend and try to ship the test sets shortly. I didn't get as much done on that project over Thanksgiving as I had expected because a very close friend and client passed away and she had named me as PR for her estate so I was distracted with that.

So, it does look like I am going to have busy holiday season, but I think these Spare Tire Covers will be done well before then.
