Headlight delete: Yes or No?

I'm not so busy at work today so here's few mods that have gone by these pages through the years.
This one is my personal best, if I ever had the urge to do this.

Well if you keep asking we'll keep saying
Personally, if I were going to turn my shark into a kit car, I wouldn't ask anybody's opinion on anything, I'd just do what I'm going to do, whatever I liked

OMG, I wonder what you are going to come up with next to devalue your GTS !
That mod is more like a "928 delete" because it makes it look like a totally different car. JMO though.

Tony,
My thoughts are that the "frog eyes" are to much a part of the charactor of the car to remove. but it your car and your choice. I can see why you like the "smooth look" of the example car. You might be able to achieve that look with a set of C4 Corvette head light units, They roll up and when not up the present a surface that is the same profile as the fender line. I remember seeing a 928 with the mod but can't remermber where.

M&C, Where you been? Already have said several X on this thread I will not be changing the headlights and that this thread was just a "Pole" to see how all felt about the OEM headlights. "Yes" or "No" will get it done. Thanks, T

Sure, hindsight is 20/20... but you didn't ask early enough in the thought process to figure out that you should have bought a garden-variety S4 with a blown motor and perform mods out the a$$ to it, and be $20k to the good when you're done.
There are plenty of $5k S4's on the market that have issues that would be addressed by the mods you are performing to a perfectly good, low mileage, collectible GTS.
You really shouldn't be taken aback by the negative reactions to your knee-jerk impulsive decisions... Just sayin'.
It will still be awesome when it's done... that fact has never been questioned.
Peace.

I think someone with the skill should progress what Ken started back in 2005 to satisfy those wanting to remove the "froggy" effect.
This mod I would certainly do if done correctly, i.e. cover tapered front to back (as previously discussed back then). It retains the look and upgrades the lights.

This is not 993, but will give you a general idea of how it might look:

I can try and find more pics of it if you're interested.

I like that yellow car's lights... the white car is a little too soap bar soft for me...though I do like the headlights, but not the rest of the nose. If they had left the rest of it alone and just played with the headlights I probably would like that even better than the yellow one... If I were doing something like that I'd want to do it on a W-I-D-E body cabrio car though... If you are going to mod it like that go ALL OUT!

Acutally, we put a deposit on a low mile 85 928S, had the owner drive the 928 to one of my clients places of business nearby (in So CA), and the car did not check out upon his inspection. I declined this 928, and thankfully got the deposit back with no snags. A few weeks later, I put a deposit down on a low mile 89 S4 on ebay and that deal fell through-on the other end. I finally got my $$ back from that fiasco and decided to go for it, and bought a 94 GTS. No matter what 928 version we bought, my wife and I were planning on mildly & tastefully customizing this car after the purchase. We have used this forum for input from other 928 owners to see what is trending at this time, and also to see what they are doing to their 928's. We have also changed our minds on a few things from what we have gathered on this forum. The respones have been vastly varied, and sometimes personal ? But in the end, it's our decision, our money, and our 928. Some people following this thread are very concerned with our money on this purchase and build, and like I have said before, I wish my financial advisor worried about our money half as much as some of you do! The GTS is now in for paint, a little bodywork & some deleting that many others have done to their 928's, re: door rub strips & side marker lights, just to name a few. I have been stopping by Larry's Paint & Body every day to see the progress on this 928, and uploading the progress here on Rennlist at: "94 928 GTS Repaint & Delete" We had a 80 Euro 16 years ago and that was unfortunetly totaled in an accident. My wife & I (OK-mostly I !) always wanted another 928 if we found one that we both liked, and here we are with this great GTS. This car is 17 years old and we felt needed some updating, re: MP3 based sound system, new carpet, paint, fluid changes, tires, mechanicals, etc. We are very aware that we have gone a little over the original budget, but hey, like one of my old drag racing buddies used to say: "Your going to be dead a long time" so we are going for it on this project. I think most will enjoy this 928 as we know we will when it's out of paint hopefully sooner than later. T&T

If a car, model year is dated, it is my 79 OB. I like it that way. Very simple. It is a antique for goodness sake. Just like me! The lines are timeless, mine are not! I just need to win the lotto to ship the car to Paul and redo the whole interior!
No computers, mechanical and it feels that way. It feels like a sports car. More so than a S4........which I also am in love with by the way.
