Thanks for the connector info, would need both the male ands female sides, could prob get the other side from the harness at a recycler.

Volvo 740 turbo if I recall correctly uses the same 25 pin as the early cars. I'm not sure where its from but I have a harness side sitting on my desk waiting on some project. Its a 25 pin, piece of tape says B126, and the molded in number is 1 928 400 953. Maybe a 1987 Volvo 760.

Ok, update time!!!!!

Seeing that I only went to bed at 4am I am glad to report that the NVM storage is done and is working 100%

So that means in essence the coding is complete!

I have started contacting the people back home to get the new code on my test unit that is in my car. When that is done i will get a good video of how the car starts, drives and works with the ecu with pretty interactive feedback etc etc.

In the meantime during this week and next week I will start building the other two prototypes!
I will post pictures on the building of them and keep everyone updated on the testing with my car back home!

Volla, compliments on your work, and I'm looking forward to pic and movies.

@Heinrich: the South African is so similar to the Dutch that I can just read it. Wonderful !

regards

Volla, why not build or bring a unit to Japan, where there are many 928',s? I'm sure one of our friends there would work with you to test in their car.

I would use a cheap over-the-counter harness and connectors, and make the ECU, tunable by American auto tuning devices.

(reading dutch/afrikaans is alot easier than listening to it)

Anyway, Because I am shipping the unit without a connector you can solder on any connector there that you want. Basically any connector with a 5mm pitch can be used there. I will make provision to allow for a "straight line"connector to be used there also (the current connector from porsche has pin1 offset)

So you can order any 5mm pitch connector from anywhere (samtech is a good example) with the corresponding female connector and use that instead.

But what I do want is to make it plug and play with the 100% stock 928 system, so you can use it without having to modify any harnass.

The tuning will have to be done manually in the sense of running the car on a dyno with a temp probe and then adusting the map accordingly. (changing values by hand) But I have put the maps in csv format so you can easily use it in excell and fill in the values there or plot graphs etc etc.

Will post more regular updates now!!!

Good idea.. from memory there's a couple of Rennlisters in Japan - here's one who's immune to speeding tickets :
