Default My 82 Auto runs superbly on Sunoco 93 octane.

The car has not run so well since I switched to Sunoco 93 octane. Excellent fuel.

Since you switched it has not run so well?????

Then switch back to whatever you were using before.

Octane rating is a measure of how slowly the fuel/air mix burns and how resistant it is to self-ignition. Higer octane fuel burns more slowly and is more resistant to self-ignition.

Burning high-octane fuel in an engine that doesn't need it (such as a stock 16-valve USA 928 engine) costs more and gives less power and mileage.

So is the effect of cleaning the windshield inside and out, or oiling the throttle linkage.

Mod, can we get this added to the New to the Forum stickied thread? I have been here for years and did not ever read about oiling the throttle linkage. I'm guessing that's gotta be good for maybe 10-12 hp?

THANKS WALLY!!!!!

A few years ago when I tried to expain this to people at a local gathering who were using premium gas because they thought their cars would have more power and run smoother, I was greeted with disbelief. Maybe now they will accept it. Thanks, Wally.
