Yokohama S.Drive

Had a set on the wifes '90 and loved them. Sticky, quiet, but didn't last long at all. Low tread wear rating and it showed. Lasted about a year.

At proper pressures, I thought they were willowy and quite gooey. It felt like I had the pressures too low, almost like a flat tire, but they weren't - just a horrible tire.
I returned them and got Star Specs.

I was considering the S. Drives but ended up with Bridgestone RE760 Sport based on my tire guy's recommendation. I have had them on for 1/2 year now on a boosted 928 and they are holding up well. They stick really well in the warm a bit slippery in the cold but that goes for all performance tires. Tread pattern is cool too!

I am currently running them on my wife's Jetta and have so far been pretty happy with them, but they've only been on about 3 months. So I can't speak to their durability. They seem to be fairly sticky and handle well for an affordable street tire. They rate comparably with the Good Year Eagle G-Force Sports. They've been tested on Tirerack and I think were received pretty well.

I've been running them.
I'll like the tires but for the first time have worn out the fronts before the rear? however did have some alignment problems and this may have taken its toll. My local "DT" manager sells them to me for the same price as the Hankook.
I had ordered "Hankooks" when they mounted them they ruined one them so he gave me a set (4) of the Y-S for the same price.
The rears are still at 30% and I'm debating to go back to them or try the Hankook this time around

I had the S.drive on my S4 for a couple of years, and found them to be good in rain, but less than spectacular on a hot track. Grip wasn't as good as the old Yokohama AVS Sport. Now that was a good tire.
As the AVS Sport was discontinued years ago, I'm using the Yokohama Advan AD08, and while it's quite a bit more expensive than the S.drive, it's a much better tire.

I have them and have put several thousand miles on them. No problems except the rears have attracted nails (one on each side about a month apart!) I believe they are worth the price.

Drifting
Here is what mine looked like new
We loaded the car to the brim for a 2 week camping holiday and after 4000 kilometers they looked like this
They are very sticky and I could not spin them when I first put them on.
I guess the weight and the 100 + mph speeds wore them off to 30% after the 4000 k trip
The price is great through direct tire, The traction is awesome wet or dry.
But soft tires don't last long.
I never found them swishy/spongy, but I ran them at 43psi
I will try the next rateing harder next year but will stick with the yoko

After 2K miles on my Jag XJS they were about half worn, that's with very gentle driving. Grip, ride, & handling were good, but they suffered from a problem where they would take a set when parked for any length of time (more than a day or two) and then you'd get vibration at speed for the first 10 miles of freeway driving.
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S cost me 50% more and will last twice as long - at least. Cheap tires are always a false economy in my opinion.
