Fabrication and coating/painting looks awesome!
But I would have kept it dual-separate the whole way whereas you have what looks like an H and a Y - both going on. Why? And why so heavy on the muffling? Cats, intermediates, and a final.
I have never seen this particular combo, any specific reason for it?

Beautiful exhaust and coating! Looks strikingly similar to the devek exhaust on my '87 from headers to transmission. A few differences with the x pipe though, and you are running dual past the cats where the devek runs single. I think the coating will serve you well. I can see small rust areas forming around welds on the devek exhaust. Its been on the car for at least 12 years that I know of, but only about 20k miles. Looks like you'll never have an issue with that wonderful finish. Thanks for sharing S4odie.

Is there a benefit aside from making the front a little simpler for spacing between the headers and cats?

I'll let Greg attend to the technical specifics of the exhaust. What I can say is everything in the system was designed for a performance gain/sustainment, to include the incorporation and location of both H and X (functional) pipe crossovers. Greg has access to some great modeling programs in addition to his own dyno. What you see is the result of a ton of R&D and cost on his part.
As I tend to drive my cars and enjoy long interstate travels it is important for the cockpit to be as comfortable as possible. One aspect of this is noise, hence my interest in having a third muffler. The Turquoise car had an Ott X-pipe and RMB when I bought it. My ears were numb after driving the 450 miles to Greg's shop.
Edit: One thing Greg and I have in common is a commitment to making our cars not only perform well but also run as clean as possible. Therefore, unless I am building a track car, I incorporate cats and the airpump and other emissions devices as required by law and when the car was originally manufactured. As is almost always the case, my cars run as well as or better than their peers and are cleaner as well. I'm funny like that.

Holy crap that looks nice!!
I built the same setup for my 85 track car minus the rear muffler.I used the same H design too with Magnaflow mufflers. Sounds awsome especially at the higher end of the tachometer!![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Very well done Greg Brown!!

Not much happens at my place by accident. We've played around with the x-pipe/cats a fair amount. This placement was the result of some pretty heavy math and testing.
I regard to mufflers, this is a placement we've been using for several years. We are looking for a nice clean exhaust note that is quiet enough to be able to drive the car around without the exhaust making passengers crazy on the freeways, but still open enough that it sounds great when you step on the throttle.
This exhaust note is very nice. When you nail it, you can hear it. The rest of the time, the exhaust is there, but not the only thing you can hear. Sounds like a hot Porsche, not a '69 Camaro with headers.

Indeed - Greg can you tell us more? is it a functional X in the rear - or just some kind of fabrication aid - sure looks like the intersection is for a real X cutout...
Is there a benefit aside from making the front a little simpler for spacing between the headers and cats?

Another beautiful installation! Greg has a thread here recently about the headers and exhaust development, for anyone who wants to know more about it. Took a long time and a lot of work...
Dan you have good taste, and I really like the color of that car!
