Nitrous 2000 hp system soon...

So to gain some perspective on this, you have built an incredibly powerful machine but have no place to run it. I can understand the challenge of building this but to not be able to operate it is strange.
It's kinda like taking a whole bottle of Viagra and then going to church.

Since none of the suggestions for running the car are acceptable...
where are you planning on running it?
Or is this just an exercise in building, but not driving?

I find the number, type, and ingenuity of every excuse really entertaining. Way better than 'dog ate my homework', really quite creative.

I drive it every day, to work etc.....but the UK has a maximum 70 mph speed limit nationally, which I would never break of course...lol
Anyone who thinks its easy to run a 200 mph car in the UK anywhere apart from the 2 drag racing tracks, just pop over here and try it....
For over 100 MPH ON A MOTORWAY you get a prison sentence normally...for 200 they would probably give me 3 to 5 YEARS !!!! and I am serious
BUT it would be proof I suppose, but somehow I doubt I would be able to read the apologies on the net in prison.....
All the best Brett

Count me in amongst those who are interested in the technical mods you have made so far Brett, always looking for ways to improve on a good car. Like the time I transplanted a Nissan LD28 into a Holden Commodore station wagon - result lower fuel cost and greater torque - just what was needed to handle a load of tools and electrical parts. Go for it mate !!

Hi Greg
Not quite as easy as that I am afraid with Nitrous, with the amounts of exhaust gases I am producing, the exhaust system needs to be almost headers only..gaswise....ANY restriction and the Nitrous system will not work properly...
My system is as follows...
No cats (S2 never had them)...X-Pipe (Anderson) ...straight 3 inch race pipes (twin) all the way to the back with no middle resonators (Anderson) Anderson back S4 straight through Race rear box (looks like a tiny GT box) so the only silencing at all is some that is in the rear box but outside the straight through pipes in the box...
Noise wise....108 DB on tickover up to 130 plus DB at 7000.... no idea on 8000 as my DB meter stops at 130...lol...so its VERY VERY loud...

You're saying ANY restriction in the exhaust will cause the Nitrous system to not work properly? You're current system has some restricitons, so are you saying it doesn't work properly? And by "properly" what exactly do you mean by this.
I know you can find muffler application that will quiet this system down. Will it restrict exhaust gas flow? Probably some, but not too much if properly spec'd and installed.
BTW, have you measured your current exhaust back pressure to see what it is? If not you're basically saying you cannot venture from a point that is unknown. Seems pretty silly to me.

OK. I'm still not clear on this objection. Sure, your car, like all 928's, is happiest well into triple digit cruising on the autobahn, but there are a number of us that have taken our cars out to drag strips to see what they'd do. For me, at least, it was a lot of fun, and the car (at the time, a 100% stock '93 GTS 5-speed) did pretty well (14.3 or so 1/4 mile on my second ever drag run).
Regardless of the 200mph design top end, you should be making way more than stock power in the lower realms as well. I'd be very interested to see how that works out on a drag strip.
Cheers,
Paul

Seems like the best plan would be to add a couple of non-restrictive mufflers, and then take a ferry over to Germany. Make a vacation out of it... All it would cost is the price of the ferry ride, gas, a couple nights in hotels, and food. And the autobahn would be a very safe road to do testing. Super-smooth curves, banked turns, etc. Go out early, like 5AM, right at dawn, and give it a go. Honestly, it really does seem silly to keep talking about this incredibly powerful car you have built, and not ever try or test it to do what it was supposed to do. You say your car is only built for top speed, not drag racing, and yet you say you can't take it to top speed in the UK. So why design it for top speed? Why not design the nitrous system for drag racing, or for street driving? Why design it for something you can never do? Why not do a 500 horsepower system that can work with mufflers? Just make it a street car, if you can't find a way to make a 200 mph run? I mean, I have the same problem, living in Los Angels. There is nowhere in the city where I could safely do a 200mph run. And if I tried, and got caught, I would also end up in jail. So if I had a car I wanted to test at 200mph, I would have to drive out to Nevada for their open road racing event. That would mean several days of travel to get somewhere that I could test my car. You have the same situation. Germany is far, but not *that* far... And the expenses would be far less, and you don't need all the safety stuff for driving on the autobahn like you do for open road racing...

But I think that would assume there was some desire to actually use the machine for its intended purpose, which I'm not seeing here. Unfortunatley because I think all of us would love to see this thing go.

Brett's car reminds me of a friends Corvette.
1967 with a supercharged 502 under the hood with a "rock crusher" transmission. Sure it's a legit 800+hp motor, in a car with stock suspension, brakes and 7" wide wheels with bias-ply period correct tires.
Sounds good, it's about as fast as a Buick LaSabre in real life.

Well I will be over there in June and I'd love to see the car. I'm traveling with my wife and mother and won't be able to make it as far south as Bournemouth, but if you happen to get to London please let me know. I wonder if Bruntingthorpe has a club day you could tag along with?

Guys why is everyone being so hard on Brett??? He has a project that he is passionate about with a set of goals he wants to achieve.....why give him such a bad time??
Sure it may not be the way I would have built a 200+mph 928...but its what he wants to do & its his 928.... But then again how many of us would have built a 928 Lemons racer with a faux estate rear end?
I like to see his updates & hope he keeps posting them.....really if he does achieve 2000hp and it holds together for a while....its one hell of a test of the strength of the engine-driveline!! Talk about testing the limits!!!
