Default Norcal Lemons race...NOT GOING.. :>(

For everyone that has been following the 928 "estate"....its Lemons racing "career" is over..... We will NOT be attending the next race at Thunderhill May-8-9 and will not be attending future Lemons races.

For a variety of reasons I don't want to go into, I made the decision to drop out of Lemons racing to pursue other forums of racing that are more enjoyable for me...so that will be the plan. I might still endurance race in conventional series, or even the "Chumpcar" series which is similar to Lemons...

I think its a great opportunity to run in POC tribute race. only 3-4 hours and we can use 2-3 drivers.
NCRC has a 2 hour endro as well, with one mandatory pitstop. great for a two driver event.

I think it will be great for you to get some NASA GTS2 time on the car as well. heck, you have a new set of tires, get some use out of them where it counts!!

Sorry we had to pull out, but I understand the many factors in the decision. you had the ultimate car for that series. fast, fun , reliable, and a good team of drivers. really a shame!

Great memories for sure! Thanks for all the hard work for the two races!

Brian
Sorry to hear this. Sounds like you guys were to good of a team.
I guess it is not about the race but more to do with the "If we like you" factor.

On a positive note now you can make Sharks in the Park.
You should trailer the Estate to SITP

Brian:

Well, that's really too bad. I was just about to send out an announcement to the locals about arranging a group drive to Thunderhill on Sunday, the day after Sharks in the Park. Lemons was the most enjoyable racing spectator event I've ever been to, and that's not because there were lots of Nascar-style wrecks, because they're were surprisingly few.

Anyway, sad to hear this. So, I hope to see you at SITP if you can make it. It would be cool if you could trailer the Lemon's car to the event. It's definitely a conversation piece, although I think it's butt ugly!

Mark, hope to see you too with the new racer if you aren't racing. Yes, it's a week from this Saturday (see my sig).

Bill,

I should be there.

Can we have a rear bumper removal clinic, or wheel building? Im getting sick of working on this thing!

I cant believe that civic has cost me 6months and 100s of hours of labor! oh well, thats racing I guess.

Sorry to here that Brian. Looks like you will have racing in the future so good luck with that.

From someone 3k miles away, it was fun watching the video's and seeing what you guy's were up to!

Sorry to hear it. I've run four Lemons races now and had an absolute blast every time, always seems like a good bunch of guys out to have fun. I'm guessing it's a difference of opinion with the organizers and that's too bad. Good luck with other racing, I've been considering doing something different myself but just because I want more.

I think I remember Brian mentioning having around $10,000 invested in his $500 Lemons race car.....perhaps we are not the only ones who read that post ! Having Anderson who was an SCCA PRO driver might not have been considered in keeping with the lets all have "fun" spirit. Kibort had his Pro license as well having run with the big boys. The organizers have stated that they do not wan Ex-SCCA ITA cars being brought in perhaps they do not want you to build one either. My guess only a guess is the car looked too much like a "racecar" and too nice. But it happens in all kinds of racing build a car and "they" change the rules. Porsche was all set to take on the Indy 500 until USAC lowered THEIR allowable boost ! IMSA with the 962s over the years added about 1,000 lbs of ballast to "equalize" performance. Sorry to hear about it. Hope you find a good place to run it.

Yeah, but it's still only worth $500. On the other hand, there was a mid-90's Mercedes 600 sedan in the race that may have only cost $500 but it was worth $10,000.

That S600 was TOO cool...way too nice for lemons too..... The guys that ran it are great guys... They were GLAD it got claimed by Jay...since it was 1/2 gallon PER LAP....and slow at that...they have much more fun in their 83 Jaguar XJS V12....but they really did pay $1k for it & sold 1 seat for $500

Its a bummer about lemons....the bottom line is I race to have fun...& lemons became no fun for me..for a BUNCH of reasons....sure my personality is part of the issue, but there are SO many other factors that contributed too it

The car is EXCELLENT....an absolute blast to drive (way more fun on R comps!!) sure its "ugly" but the smile I get from driving it is priceless....in fact I have had many drivers drive it when during its development and every single one was positive....

I might be able to bring it to SITP on Saturday now....I just need to locate a truck-trailer to move it around... It sure is a conversation piece!!

Hell hang on to it and see what it would take to run it in something like NASA, or Kibort's IT-Everything class. Might even be legal for HSR now too. I can understand the investment side. We have followed the rules very carefully and we still have quite a bit of money in our Lemons car. All the stuff that doesn't hit the budget is still money, like cage, brakes, fuel system, wheels, tires, etc. and we have spared no expense there.

But I keep looking at spec series now and I like the idea. I mean real spec series with sealed engines and so on.
