I'm sorry to hear this recent development. It was fun to watch the races and read the personal recounts. It also inspired many other 928ers what is possible for relatively little money.
Also agree with Jim, your attitude speaks volumes!

Brian, that sucks. Keep us posted, whatever race series you choose.
I sent you a PM. I'd really like to hear your experiences and advice in order for Crazy Mike and I to avoid whatever pitfalls you might have encountered.

We ran Chumpcar 24hrs at VIR and had a blast. Its a great alternative to LeMons - just need to get attendance up so the series can continue. The racing was great and hardly any black flags all weekend. We even made the podium.

the racing was FUN, who cares about the rule makers. Dont give them the satisfaction that you even care. we all know where we stand with the car, PLUS, are you really competing with the oscar myer wiener mobile? there is a bunch of garbage can cars out there. All, very impressive in their own way, but still no where near the capability of a 928 that has been gutted and reliably running. so, what is the point? to have fun. sure, we can compete against others with a TON of work done to them to be fast, like the volvo with the mustang engine, or the big turbo miatas, e30 bmws, etc, but in the end who cares. who cares if we are 11th like last time and have a 400lap penalty? do you think ANYONE knows the difference? lt just doesnt matter. Heck, we were trying to regulate the ITE rules with SCCA and you know how that went. eventually, it just didnt matter, because as long as it was a production car on DOTs it was eligible. alll the "cup car, comp coupe, bla bla bla" BS we tried to regulate didnt make any dif. guys still showed up in mark anderson type cars and mopped us all up and why not. its racing, bring what you brung and just have fun with the battles you have. there is no prize money. EVEN GTS is a little bit BS too, because it doesnt take weight into account, so the little light cars with the same power to weight willl always have an advantage. again, who cares. just race, be safe and have fun!!

Brian-
You should do a thread on what you found that worked with trying to get an automatic to be fast around a racetrack.

Sorry to hear it's over. Haven't had a chance to see or be in a LeMons race, but was looking forward to doing it one day.
So, where do you think you will be running and with what groups?

Thanks for all the support!! It has not been an easy decision for me!!!
I am looking into Chumpcar as an alternative...they have a Fontana race in July and Sears Point again in December I will consider.....
Whats interesting is that the Estate as it sits drops nicely into NASA GTS2 class...they allow automatics and its power-weight is just about right....its lap times are competitive too.....this is the direction I am heading.......I also will race with NCRC....as they are a "run what ya brung" type group....
2011 will be a great year for NASA GTS in Norcal....we'll have 5 cars.....me, Sean in the widow, MK in his, Scott in his and Larry in his monster...so we should represent GTS2-3-4-5 and maybe GTSU with Larry
