awesome. i wonder what the weight savings would be over my ugly cover and gutted center console!Very cool. keep us posted. what I would do is make it a 2 piece deal, so you dont have to remove the pod to remove or install it. even if the driver side vent area with the under frame was a snap in piece, that would probably do it.
I agree that some might want to cut it into two pcs for easier/quicker access. In my case, the entire center section will be a removable panel that has all of the electrical equipment mounted on it. My pod guages will be mounted on a sub-plate that stays with the column. The "pod" itself will be an empty, removable cover.
Good question! The boat is a small (18') hull, running a berkely jet drive. The throttle is via foot pedal and because the hull tapers inward, the pedal can't be placed on the right side. So, the driver station is on the left and the pedal is in the center of the boat where right-footed drivers can reach it.

I missed that you are running a jet drive. My concern was that it was a stern drive and weight on the port while trying to turn right is not good..... 18' wow we need videos of that

Then what about turning left, even with a stern prop drive? I think the main reason is for pedal placement of most jet boats not weight distribution. And on non jet boats, the driver runs "US" traffic patterns, but is closer to the shoreline for visability. (thats what I remember from my boating days. )

Mark,
with a right hand prop turning clockwise it wants to twist the boat ccw. if you have to much weight on the left side and are up on plane and turn left it will turn very sharp. The boat will lean over and carve a nice turn. If you turn right it will not lean over and your turn will be wider than you think.

Update
The first part has been pulled from the mold ! It looks really good and was just getting cleaned up when I stopped by this morning. I'm picking it up on my way home and will have it at the Wilbraham tech session tomorrow. Pics to follow.....really busy with Wilber-tech today. The first unit is going in my track car, then number two is for the 928 jetboat. After that, talk to Walter black about pricing. He can make them heavy or light, f-glass or carbon. The mold is really slick...he did a nice job.

That looks great! Looking forward to hearing how it fits in the car. What is the weight? and how does that compare to the stock component(s)?

Fantastic!
That's a huge, huge step forward.
I will absolutely need one for my 84 USA car, though might need to save pennies for a while.
This is an incredible positive!
