There are 7" screens that have 1024x600 as native, but those are probably more expensive...

It's pretty typical for touch screen design to have to build it up at some weird size, even with standard size monitors. I'll download the Centrafuse skin developer stuff and do some design testing at twice the 800x480 resolution, then scale it down to 800x600, send it to Hans and see how it looks/works. Might look distorted at 800x600, but fine on the touch screen.

Yeah I hear ya. My wife wasn't so hot on her learning bi-directional software either. She just wanted to stick with plain firmware and the associated issues you get with the same non update firmware over time.

New circuit boards have been ordered and just waiting for delivery for testing.

I am getting a batch of boards in on wednesday, and they could be in there, but I think its just parts for the window switches.

Thanks
Hans

I just pulled the HVAC controller from my '89, chasing a non-functioning blower and to replace the Japan-spec radio with something that works here in Oz.

Lo and behold, the fan switch displays some unexpected "crunchiness", and is not making contact in any of the positions.

Having looked at the price to replace it - $1200+ from Porsche, $300 + core for a refurbed unit - I am REALLY keen on pursuing alternatives.

If there is a list of potential customers, add me to it.

Thanks Steve,

we will do that. We are about done with the illuminated window switch project and also with the illuminated sill project, so a serious update on the center console and AC controllers is coming up.

Hey guys,

window switches are now done and shipping. Illuminated sills are just about ready to ship.

Hans and I will resume work on the center console update, including the carputer and the AC controllers.

We will keep you updated

Thanks

Paul

Hey guys. I know its been a long time since this thread has been updated. This project is till a go. The window switches took way more effort and time than anyone expected. However, we now have all aspects of that project covered, which will make producing them again for future customers much easier and also it has opened up an entirely new perspective for the consoles - as announced late last year, we will be using the window switch technology to provide custom buttons for the consoles.

I have been making some calls this morning to some of the vendors and companies I was working with last year on the consoles. I am making sure that there arent any advancements in display technology that need to be incorporated into the current files and framework.

So in short, this project has not been abandoned. Expect to see updates to this thread soon.

Thanks
Hans
