John has spent a lot of time engineering this kit to be easy to maintain, or more accurately, as easy as possible to maintain. It’s highly functional. Access trumps aesthetics in most areas.

An example of maintenance access is the clutch change. The clutch can be changed without removing the exhaust. How many headers out there can say the same?

Default New tires on old rims

This is a stop gap solution for the current rims. Once the rest of the driveline is in final state, the car needs all new wheels.

Wouldn't it just be easier to go out and buy a twin turbocharged Porsche off of eBay or BAT-? My question is the effort really worth the end result?

Probably not worth the effort, unless you believe in strength before weakness, life before death, and journey before destination. But I’ll let you know if I ever get there!

Where is the challenge in that?

Especially since my three family daily drivers already have in agrregate about 1750hp, 28 cylinders, and 6 turbochargers.

Default The final round of powder coating

The car is coming together fast now, final round of powder coating is taking place today and final assembly continues.

The auction pipes needed some additional reliefs for belts and rotors. They are absolutely as large as what one could have in there.

Default What are those handcuffs for again?

In case someone was wondering what those hand cuffs were for, they are brackets to hold the horn. That's a clever bracket, designed by John. It's a single bracket with a single bolt doing everything, and it has locating pins to take care of orientation. I like it!

The indigenous stock horn was displaced by the invasive intercooler, and a much diminished horn is relegated to a reservation down next to the oil cooler:

Default New tires

It would have been completely reckless to drive the car anywhere close to its top speed with the old tires. I was planning to burn them out with a mile-long burnout before swapping them out, but the transmission troubles lead me to shelve that plan.

New tires are in:

I was wondering about the cuffs... I hope you like the "Bad Boy", mine sounds more like a naughty boy, not genuinely bad.

Default Not one cubic centimeter of space anywhere

A lot of lube is needed to get all these huge pipes to fit under the hood!

All clearances are there with nothing left over:

Default Some idea about the size of the suction pipes:

This is how big they are and how big they have to be:

Been following with interest. Just noticed the stock radiator. Your big build is going to make Big HP and Big Heat. More fuel burned = more heat produced. Be careful - your stock radiator may now be too small.

So far, the only two reliable ways to screw up the 928 S4 cooling system that I know of are either to stack stuff in front of the radiator or to install an aftermarket radiator (or both). Since we’re not doing either, I think we’ll be ok!

Another way to say the same thing is that the 928 S4 cooling is airflow limited, not radiator size limited. The best bang for the buck is to seal the radiator with a duct to the high-pressure bumper opening. After that, the next thing to improve would be to add both inlets and outlets to the hood, but that's a bigger engineering project to get right.
