No laser cutting brackets this weekend with Ohio River flooding into two states. John’s main shop is safe, short of Status 6 going off in the river, but his hub dyno facility is potentially at risk. Better safe than sorry, so that facility is (voluntarily and proactively) evacuated.
Damn, you have to worry about flooding. Over here the worries are the cold, the snow and the green party which will ban the sale of fossil fuels from 2030 and on.

The “snowflakes” of both kind are problems for car enthusiasts...
This is from my island house in Finland, you can drive there over an ice road:
Why do not you make the brackets from stainless steel and forget about powder coating?

Half of them are stainless and will be left bare. Half are mild steel and they are the ones that will be coated black for visual reasons regardless of material. More cost effective to replicate that way.
If one wanted to step up from this, then it would be aluminum brackets anodized to the desired color. But those get scuffed so easily that it’s more appropriate for a show car. This car will be driven hard and put up wet in New England.

When I do fabricate something for my cars I make almost everything like brackets, large size washer and other small parts from stainless steel. You know the conditions up here in the north of Europe, the rust is a pain in the ***. For the red Strosek Ultra I once had to make new headlight holders/brackets as the ones provided by Strosek were poorly designed. I made the holders from stainless steel and it was quite an undertaking depending on limited space and the fact I wanted the headlights to be adjustable, which they were not from Strosek. However in order to adjust the headlights, the car have to be lifted at the front, the wheels and the wheel well liners have to come off, no very easily done.
