NICE.

My personal take was: 'I don't care if it doesn't make me faster, I love the bling factor.' Not sure if I'd be OK going slower.

I do love the look of the splitter on the MAF with the filters on the sides.

BTW- Does the S4 have the temp II sensor mounted through the airbox like the S3s do? I had to put a fitting through my MAF splitter at the junction in order to incorporate it like the stock setup (after the filter, before the MAF). If so, is it incorporated in the 928sRus filter/intake design?

'87+ do not have the air box temp sensor.

The intake looks great, it may even fool someone not familiar with 928 that its a stock piece.

I would like to see a stock car sharktuned, then re-tuned with this assembly to see what the real gains are

Ah, that makes it easier.

Roger, just remember the air box temp sensor for the S3 version. Drop me an e-mail if you want to see how I handled it.

+1 Exactly what I was thinking. However, does not seem like it would take much to put the stock filter setup back on the car. I really like the look of this setup, would go with the matte black stealth approach, especially if there is a performance advantage.

Already done 2 years ago (with DR's Blackbird setup).

https://rennlist.com/forums/4438419-post25.html

Reader's digest version: 10-12 RWHP gain, 13-16 RWTQ gain. Don't know if this is reported as SAE both times or not.

Not everyone has access to a ST so I am more interested in "real" numbers on a stock car that the vast majority of owners have.
We will do STing on the system later when we have a baseline.

But is that stock? Is this the machine below that was tested? Says Authority Chips, X pipe with High Flow cats and RMB. I suspect those items may make those numbers higher?

"88S4 auto, Alpine Weiss,Autoauthority chips,x-pipe w/hi flo cats,RMB,BlackBird intake,18" 996 Cup IIs w/Michelin Pilot Sport 2's , JagEng CF interior & shifter, 930S steering wheel, Aero mirrors, HID lights, AIR ground effects"

I was just addressing the question. My guess is that with stock chips there will be little to no gains. Maybe even a drop. Pretty much all other attempts have had similar results.

Sharktunung is where the gains will be realized.

Not stock, but if you read the link, in the post Ed states that the only HARDWARE difference was the addition of DR's Black bird system. He did sharktune it.

To me there is not much quality data about the benefits of similar systems. DR's data represents dyno runs five months apart (Feb/Jun). Too many variables to claim any benefit to the system. I agree with a previous post, must get a stock car running as best as possible (ST if possible) then run a dyno pull three dyno pulls to get average, then swap out the stock intake system for the new design, three more dyno pulls. That will be the most accurate testing and will be representative.

Damn, I wish I could bolt this to my car... unfortunately I need only one filter and it has to flow ~1000CFM. I really don't want to cut a hole in the inner fender either... Maybe when John Speake comes out with a MAP sensor for the LH/EZK so I can dump the MAF, it would work great
