Went ahead and temporarily remounted the front fenders. Makes it easier to sand and paint. My goal today was get the roof, rear and front fenders is a GOOD final primer coat. Started the day early and SANDED ALL day. Once over with 220 to cut the orange peel off what the old gun had caused. Then went over every thing with 320 then 400 then 600. Wiped it all down 3 times. Kept walking around it looking for areas that needed more attention. So by about 4:00 I was ready to shoot. This was how it looked about 4:45.
First 5 pics...I have no idea how to add text BETWEEN pics on this site.
At any rate I started to mix up one more small batch of epoxy when I heard thunder in the distance so I stopped. No sooner than I had put the primer back up and RAN to unplug the air compressor it came a flood with fairly high winds too. Ran was being blown under the cover and there was no where to go. I fear is all ruined.
Next pics show the aftermath.
Just should not of gotten up today.

Sorry to hear your bad luck Dean. Perhaps it's not as bad as you think? I see the water beading so that has to be a good sign? Epoxy is tough stuff...hopefully it cured enough before the rain.

The epoxy was a total loss after the rain. It blistered badly so back to re sanding. Theres rain in the forecast for quite awhile so re shooting the epoxy will wait till better weather.

Look at it this way. Think how perfect it will be when you are done. Every single blemish, imperfection and the like will be gone and you'll have a glass smooth finish that will last forever.

Dean, you have come SO FAR with this project, don't let mother nature throw you off your game here! Like Jeff said, when you get done with this it will probably look better than the factory paint job!

Thanks guys...I'm still focused. Did not want people thinking I was just not updating this thread. Will be back at it as soon as the weather looks good.

Time for an update I guess.
Sanded again all day. Did try something different though that I thought worked better at least for me. I was sanding the whole car with 220, then 320 then 400 then 600 but I was never happy with it....so I started wet sanding ONE panel at a time with 220, 320, 400 then 600. Don't know why but it worked a lot better for me that way. Anyway the pic is the roof panel dry. Started on getting the bumpers and headlight covers ready for BULLDOG adhesion promoter and then 2K primer but there was a warped area right in front of the right headlight on the front bumper that I just couldn't ignore. I used 2 heavy angles with 3 clamps. Heated the bumper with a hair dryer then tightened up. I hope it helps...will leave it over night that way. Tomorrow will be another big day. Fenders, roof and rear quarters are done....I think. Will probably wall in my "paint booth" within the next 2 days.
