Also...I would like to thank Jim Dubois for sending Garrett a much needed heater box to replace the one I broke while removing. This will help immensely in reassembling the dash! Jim also sent Garrett the bumper shocks he was needing and some bumper beading as well!!!! These 2 boxes were large and heavy and I'm sure were $$$ to send not to mention the time spent. Many thanks and I owe you big time.
Jim, your a great friend!

YEA JIM! Isn't this community awesome! I can't wait to see the dash together. If that green pod looks as good as I think it will look that will be something I do if I ever take the red cars pod out! Except of course I'll paint mine red! LOL!

Dean, I trust the last photo is not that of the "new" speedo? (it doesn't have the new odometer drive gear, or for that matter any odometer drive gear at all) I am just asking to save you a few steps, just in case.... I have spent more time on these than I like, up to about 10 so far, and have found several wrong ways to do them........
and you are certainly more than welcome to the spare parts sent, I have more stuff if you need it.....just let me know...

Yes Jim...the speedo shown is Garrett's OLD speedo that did not have a working OD. The new one is good to go. That brings up a good question.
What, if any, lub should I put on the new gears???

I put just a bit of Lubriplate on the worm. I recommend you check between the worm and the mating new gear for just the slightest bit of "freedom". If the worm is tight against the new gear it may just work for a few miles and then bind. I have had that problem on 2 different odometers. The solution is to slip a thin washer under (behind) the stepper motor foot to give the worm engagement just a touch of freedom.....the new odometer drive gears in some cases are about .018" +/- larger in diameter than some old gears....just enough to bind up intermittantly. This little problem cost me at least 6-8 pod removals and reinstallations before I found the real problem.....slow learner I guess....

OMG, that looks AWESOME!
So what can I send you Dean? It won't really matter because I'll be getting it back in the long run when the car is done and I come to steal it from you! LOL!!!![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
You are doing such a great job on that car! Garrett is going to be the envy not only of his entire school, but also just about EVERYONE on all the forums that this cars progress has been posted on! You guys need to join the 928 Owners Club and add a thread about this car over there too!

Still sick but it was a nice day so out I went to do a little work on Marvin. Applied the front bumper beading and mounted the front bumper. I still have some adjustment to do ( bumper and hood needs moved back a tad ) but at least I got something done...sort of.
Whoever thought up putting one of the bumper studs on the inside of the headlight support is still laughing 30 years later. Not only can I not SEE it I can't touch it either. Do you have to unbolt the headlight swivel and SEE if it falls enough to see? I remember when I took it off it was a pain. Ref pic for location of stud. All others are in place.

Just put mine back together today. Yep I remove the headlight assemblies completely. (man I hate putting em back.).
Just stick your head thru the headlight hole. You can see it then. ;0)
