Anyone familiar with the Indianapolis area.
We should be hitting the indy area about 10PM. Is taking I-65 straight through the city our best route to avoid traffic /construction? Or should be go around via 465?
Per the almighty google, going around only adds like 3 miles (south route) or 10 miles going north.
More like another case of wanted parts for the trip are not going to arrive on time. So, make do with what yea got.

Just finished a clay and wax treatment. Having a new windshield installed on Thursday.
Then off to Waynesborough VA to meet up with the folks coming down from the Northeast.
This year the focus of the trip will be driving. I have a tendency to talk too much, so lets see if I can shut my yapper and get on the road.

Or is there an assumption that over 50% is under construction so no need to list it?

HP,
Take 65-South down, and the use the express to get over to 70-East, then take that over to the 465. from the 70E/465 ramp, the 74E towards Cinci is only a couple miles, and you will avoid all construction traffic on 465.
BTW, we are driving non 928 vehicle again too. Blew out the waterbridge/block seal, and the car is just running to warm for that distance, and didnt have the time or patience to do the intake again before SITM. So if anyone needs anything heavy taken to or from the Indy area, we are leaving early Thursday morning, and will be heading back Sunday afternoon.

Through downtown would probably be the best, but around the North side wouldn't be any problem either.
There is a little bit of construction, but all lanes are open.
You are planning on taking I-74 towards Cincy (as apposed to going through Louisville)… right?

I-65 through Louisville = 846 miles
I-75 through Cincinnati = 900 miles
I-43 to BFE then Louisville = 915 (secnic route?)
So I take it I should not be heading to Louisville?
Yes I understand the shortest is not always the fastest, just need a heads up so I can pre-program the GPS.
I should have 3G for the whole trip with my laptop.

Never realized how close those two routes really are. From my house its only 6 miles longer going though Louisville as apposed to going around Cincy (on 275).
Must be something up with your Google routes because the two aren’t that different… there is another ‘shortcut’ at Corbin, KY that takes you off the beaten path save a few miles and is somewhat of a fun run... cool tunnel too.
The bridge in Louisville can get backed up during the day where the bypass around Cincy is actually in Indiana (God’s country). Unless it’s late at night, I’d steer clear of L-ville. YMMV

Just received this email:
If you would like his contact info give me yours.
I will not be attending SITM this year after all. I will be canceling my two rooms at the Banner Elk Best Western. If you are going and need rooms there, let me know and I will try to coordinate with them to allow you to pick up a room.
