Afshin,
I do see where you are coming from (sort of), but not wanting to drive a GT long distances does not really compute. When you see the roads in this area, I guarantee you some feelings of regret. Not to mention, you will likely never be in another place where your car will be as appreciated.
Of course, the important thing is that you are coming.
Above all of course, meeting and hanging out with this weird extended family is the best. I for one am dying to have a drink with Greg and Uncle Mitch. Also, I have heard tale of guy name Mike with a boat that I cannot wait to meet. Also, if you haven't met Jeannie, take time to search for a picture. You do not want to see her for the first time in front of your wife. When DR says, "It's good to be ME", he ain't just whistlin Dixie!

On this trip I'm planning on driving down from MA to VA with my wife and the kids (2&5), detailing supplies (will be polishing a 928 in VA) and of course a weeks worth of luggage. My fear is the kids messing up the leather, rock chips and having to redo the engine bay /undercarriage if it starts pouring rain. The cleaning isn't nearly as big a deal as the chips and kids in the interior. One look at my wifes SUV and you'll understand.

Like I said, I need a second shark to drive and not worry about. But first I need a lift in the garage to open up a third spot. I also have to ease into the second shark, wife gives me a hard enough time about the first one.
Yep, you need a driver then, and soon.

Why are you against driving it?
Greg,

Not sure if you saw Afshin's 928 when Tom had it a SITM a few years ago... real nice!! Most factory optioned 928 I have ever seen and certainly ever driven.

While I would love for Afshin's 928 to be here, I get it and don't blame him at all....until he gets an enclosed trailer...then I won't cut him any slack :-)

Yeah I have no doubt that these roads were made for 928's. At least my current DD (Speed3) should be fun and capable on the back roads. Definitely not as comfortable or refined but it's a fair trade off for keeping the shark looking her best.

I've met Dave and Jeannie at Frennzy a few years back and so has my wife. In fact I think it was Jeannie that finally convinced my wife that she should go to SITM. As far as DR being lucky....lets just say I I had to bite my tongue when he started talking about Jeannie's lap dancing.

Some of the 928 women are definately a cut above. Jeannie is certainly in that category. A few others come to mind.

Sorry I couldn't have been there for you last night. Sounds like you still got your groove thing on.

The SITM trip is not just a car show in NC. It is an adventure, a gamble, and a an endurance event of man and (old) machine to a place where all things are 928. For us it's a 2000 mile round trip, and part of the adventure is not knowing if the car will make it! You go on faith.

It is like a sacred religious pilgrimage to 928 holy ground, that is made special by using your 928 like it was intended: long distance, twisty roads, bwaaaah, and come rain or shine.

It is NOT the same when you take the DD. What if we all took the daily driver instead? There are a lot of really nice 928s that make the trip. Cars can be cleaned when they get dirty, especially if you are good at cleaning them.

That's my opinion, and I have gone to SITM from '04 to this year. It is THE reason to break the 928 out and THE reason to get all your maintenance done.

I'll see everybody there...in my 928.

Carl,

Did you buy a 911 too and not tell us??

Reminds me of the few times I went to PCA events in my 928!

FWIW, this is not our feelings about any 928er coming to SITM!

While Carl can have his own "Parade" on the way here and it is his right and privledge to do as he pleases (as he should)... I want to assure you this is NOT the attitude you will find at SITM and it will NOT be tolerated at our event. If any new or returning 928ers are made to feel otherwise at SITM, please come and get me. SHARKS IN THE MOUNTIANS is about 928ERS FIRST, the peices of steel, aluminum, rubber, leather and plastic(ouch) are just PROPS!

Carl, on a personal note, this has nothing to do with you, and you do what you like, but I feel oblidged to make it clear, when anyone makes statements like that, no matter who makes them...that this is not what SITM is about!

This subject needs to change now..don't make me go get a "Hammer" Ha, Ha!

In the words that my 82 year old mother tells me and Jeannie every time we visit her in the nursing home.."Ya'll just be good to one another"

That's all I got to say about that..... oh Andrew, "Diplomatic enough for ya" :-)

Back to more FUN, gotta go edit the SITM Poster artwork Beech Mountain sent me. They are making large posters for the event, going to try and get one for everyone that attends. Should make a great Garage Poster, especially after my changes :-)

Subject: Your MCC Event Invitation

Thank you for submitting an event for consideration.

We do get a lot of invitations, but we consider every one we receive. And as it turns out, most of the events you see featured on our TV show are ones we learned of through viewer submissions of invitations.

All information is kept of file so even if we can not get to your event this year, we might be able to in the future.

Notice: This email has been sent from an email that is not checked. Please do not reply to this message as it will not be recieved.

OK, so who's the wise guy that submitted SITM for My Classic Cars?????

Wasn't me and it wasn't Jeannie!

TOO FUNNY!!!

IF they were to show up, whoever did it has to take the host (forgot his name) for a ride in their 928!!

So I'm a 928 snob. Is that a bad thing?
