blue clutch feed hose

it was such a pain i just decided to take the clutch master out, which was in itself a PITA

It was still annoying to do with the engine out of the car no less.

the more you work on these cars though the easier they become, I remember bellhousing bolts, those are quite easy with the right tool, but were a bitch the first time i tried to tackle them.

Removing the engine by yourself using a floor jack and an engine hoist...which I failed at. I had to deputize an assistant.

Electrical problems...I'll gladly pull the engine twice rather than figure those out.

Putting the stupid alternator on...you need three hands with eyes in the ends of your fingers.

Other than that these cars are a joy to work on

Heater core on a S430 MB, it makes anything on a 928 seem easy.
I charge 38 hours plus what it cost to R&R the windshield.

It takes at least that long to do one, longer to walk upright again.

We have it lucky compared to other cars.

The alternator issue is overcome with a floorjack as an assistant.

Most of the things mentioned are a LOT easier the second time, after that AHAAAA! moment on the Snap-On truck.

Aftermarket shifter cup. Would have been impossible w/ engine in car and w/o assistant. For me at least.
Dash bulbs too.

+1 to the shifter cup.
- PO electrical hacks
- 16v cam tower gaskets w/ engine still in the car

Two jobs I dread, both mentioned above.

1. Blue clutch hose from reservoir to clutch master cylinder
2. Hall sender with the cam covers still on the engine

For both jobs, disassembly to make clearance and ease access is actually worth the time and effort. Trying to do them as standalone jobs was painful.

AC. The HVAC has so many possible points of failure, and seems to enjoy getting expensive attention. Vacuum Freon, heater valve, evaporator,... It's an early 70ies system, and it shows.

Rounded off a lug nut once, what a PITA.

Took the remaining 19 aluminum lug nuts and threw them into the woods beside my shop.

Attempted to replace the comb flap vac pod on my '87. May that lil' bastard burn in hell.
