Default Moving Back to North Carolina

Well, I just received a promotion and will be moving back down to NC, Charlotte to be exact...finally!

I regret not being able to meet-up with more NY members, however there seems to be quite a few 928 guys in NC that I am really looking forward to meeting once I get settled in April...

So NC members please keep me posted about meets, cruises, and the like!

Many thanks! I completed my undergrad studies, and part of my grad work there, and all of my closest friends are still there...I've been trying to get back down there for quite some time now so as you all can imagine I'm very excited!

And of course, you won't be that far from SITM.

What part of Charlotte do you think you'll be moving to? I'm in south Charlotte.

Welcome back in advance!

Metrolina area; Carolinas Region PCA meetings are 3rd Thursday of every month (just missed Jan. meeting) currently rotated between Waldhorn German Restaurant in Pineville and Hickory Tavern in North Charlotte. Last meeting was at Waldhorn, unless otherwise advised the next meeting in February will be at the Hickory Tavern.

Jan. 30 Mid-Winter Track Seminar at CMP (see below)

Feb. 27 BMW & Porsche swap meet at Eurowerks (see below)

Mar. 6-7 Carolinas Region, PCA... DE at CMP

May 15-16 Carolinas Region, PCA... DE at CMP

Cars and Coffee all-make meets are the first Saturday of every month outside of the Panera Bread at Northlake Mall. Parking is first come, first served and folks start getting there before 8am. It's common place to see Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsches mixed in with Ricers and Muscle cars. Great folks, no matter what the marque... casual atmosphere & all car people!

Lowe's Auto Fair [spring and fall -dates announced as known] Carolinas Region, PCA participates regularly with the goal of having more Porsches than Corvettes. Thought typically an American muscle car show & swap meet... pretty much all 'car people' and appreciative of all things automotive.

PorscheFest [May 28-30] sponsored by Carolinas Region PCA. Various venues, with the next one being in Asheville, NC -to likely include a Biltmore House get together.

SITM first weekend of June... rain or shine or snow (yeah, it's happened!) for our beloved 928s!

July 12-13 Carolinas Region, PCA... DE at VIR (see below)[tentative dates]

July [TBA] Carolinas Region Pool Party [details to be announced]

Aug 6-8 Carolinas Region "In den Bergen" in Waynesville, NC hosted by Mountain area and TRG (The Racers Group)[details to be announced]

Shark Frenzy [October dates, (IIRC) and announced ahead of time on RL & RW] near Washington DC.

EuroFestival [November dates, (IIRC)] at the BMW Centrum in Greenville, SC. All euro-makes car show.

Parts resources local (kind of) to Charlotte: 928 Specialists (Spruce Pine); dC Automotive (Rocky Mount); Hendrick Porsche (Charlotte dealership but very enthusiast-friendly); GMP Performance (Charlotte); Stuttgart Haus (Mooresville); mail order/internet for others

Service resources local (kind of) to Charlotte: Eurowerks (Matthews... Jim Burton apprenticed at Hendrick when the 928s were being produced); GMP Performance (Charlotte... local SpeedArt source); Hendrick Porsche (Charlotte... special labor rates for 1995 & earlier); Doc's Grrrage (Columbia, SC... Lee was dealership mechanic when 928s were new); ProTech Motorsports (Greenville, SC); SpeedWerks (Thomasville); Black Forest Racing USA (Denver)

Racing/DE/Autocross venues: Carolinas Motorsports Park [CMP](Kershaw, SC... most of our PCA region track events are here); Virginia International Raceway [VIR](Danville, VA); Lowe's Motor Speedway (currently called Charlotte Motor Speedway; looking for name sponsor)[occasional DE events when possible]

If you are a PCA member... go ahead and transfer your membership so you can start getting the newsletters and announcements of events and activities. If you don't have an address yet, perhaps get them sent to a close friend in the interim.

I look forward to meeting you and am glad to have another 928 fan close by!

I'm not too sure of that as of yet...we are looking in Ballantyne, and also considering Lake Norman or Lake Wylie...I will know more by the middle of February...

Oh you didn't hear? New York's Governor Patterson signed into law that your 928 must stay in the state with a citizen. I'll give you my address in Plainview

Barry!

That is great information to have on hand! I will definitely be joining the Carolinas Region PCA, and look forward to meeting all the fellow shark owners in the area...besides SITM, there looks to be an ***-load of events in the local area!

I hope I can get my shark finished before SITM - speaking of which, if someone can recommend a good paint guy in the Charlotte area who doesn't charge outrageous prices, please feel free to shoot me his name...
