Powder coating... thoughts?
The car is following a theme, and should be fully mechanically functional in a month or so...
Powdercoated the intake, and a couple other key pieces... along with powdercoating it got new seals, clamps, vac hosing, etc, etc.
Full light...
I did not do the intake ends... because I don't want the boots to slip off...
further pics...
This is with a flash....
Standard room lighting...
Another angle.

PC job looks fantastic! So, the part is powdercoated, then clearcoated? Is the clearcoat an automotive product or is it specific to the PC process? (I'm curious as to why it had to be baked again after the clear was applied.) Regardless, the finished product turned out extremely well!

The base color has no uv protection... so to protect the surface from contaminants oil, gas, sunlight, etc. It had to be powder cleared. It is a two stage powdercoat.
The base coat and clear coat are both powder coat products, no paint.

The runners have the ridges, so even if you PC them they should not slip off. You can always rough up the rubbers at the end as well.

Interesting, I've been thinking about coating my next 16V intake the closest I could find to Mocha Brown to match the car.
I cannot wait to see that installed!!!

I'm glad you guys like it!
My intentions are to accent but not overpower visually. In the sun the intake is absolutely stunning...
I wish the car was running! 7 months and I've logged 3 trips around the block, for a grand total of 1.3 miles!! It's been on blocks more than on it's tires!
I am attempting to pull all three colors from the crest together throughout engine bay "gently"... without detracting from the actual car and its soon to have fresh paint...
Clean and shiny new! Just like a 928 always should've been!
The po should be shot... he still has another 928, an 83 4.7 US model (5 speed, sunroof) that is now shouldering boxes piled high on top of it in the garage...

Hammertone finish - looks fantastic!
I was considering doing that in black (silver undertones) for SATA, and seeing this really makes me want to now.
btw - you can do a single stage powder with good contaminant protection, or good UV protection, or decent coverage of both with a hybrid, but to get that super strong luster shine you have to do a second coat of clear.
