Pull the spark plugs, crank the engine over (jump the starter) and see what shoots out of it.
From their website "The motor and transmission both have clean oil and the undercarriage shows no sign of any damage of any kind water included."

I've been told the engine and trans have already been drained and the fluids were clean. I would rather have seen it myself but oh well. Seems a bit odd that they would have drained it. I can see checking them for contamination, but why drain them completely? I'm sure there are several answers to that question.

In the past some people have had issues with this establishment. Proceed with caution.

Thanks. I'm aware of past reports but never had any personal experience. My sensors are cranked up to 11.

INCONSISTENT ODOMETER READING

It is hard to tell whether this reading indicates an odometer rollback or a clerical error. Confirm the mileage with the seller or a qualified mechanic.

Electronic dash makes a rollback just about impossible. However, it's pretty easy to swap the pod and the odometer reading is stored in the pod.

Kewl, I sent you a PM, let me know what you find, and call if you don't mind. Good luck.

There was less than 6 months between the dates of the odometer discrepancy (which is only 200 miles off). It's probably just an error. Also, if someone went to the trouble to do this, they probably wouldn't be stupid enough to roll it back past where it was recorded last time.

for the record my 944 has a salvage title but there is no evidence of damage whatsoever resultant of a crash or anything. it was repainted but the frame is straight, nothing is bent or anything. maybe it got into a fenderbender, idk but i cant tell now!

There are a number of different software programs that can do it. Here's just one that came up in a quick search. Notice that the 928 is listed.

I also saw the salt water report and I know what that can do to the interior of a car. Good luck.

Looks like it was in for service when it got totaled(?). Maybe someone can contact the servicer and find out what happened.
