Pyzik,

It sounds like your car was running normal, then you installed the chip (and nothing else) and the idle changed. Could it be that the vacuum line to the computer was disturbed?

Alright guys , my maf is at 382ohm my cold fuel pressure is 58psi, car runs great till it reaches 4000rpm then it stops pulling But the idle still slowly rises and then after slowly getting to 5000rpm and after that doesn't really pull . Would that be the fine adjstment of Co and the idle screw ?

Check that the WOT switch is working at the LH plug (12 & 25).

New ICV.

If MAF has not been rebuilt, it needs to be.

Note that the MAF has two o-rings. A big one in the housing, and a small one on the MAF. Both screens should be installed.

Make sure the MAF is right side up! I've seen a couple that were installed upside down!

Arrow on cover should be pointing away from the air filter/towards the throttle body.

Does the icv affect performance or just the idle? Also what's the best way to rebuild the maf?

Have your MAF sent to Injection Labs (http://www.injectionlabs.com/) and Kevin will rebuild it, with a warranty included. He's in Boulder, CO so just email him that you're sending and write down all your info and send it with the MAF.

I sent mine in, turnover time was about 5 days from when he received it (USPS Flat Rate). Cost about $265 plus shipping.

My '86 is so much more responsive now.

+ Edit

I believe the Idle Control Valve just affects idle and won't factor into overall performance. I could be wrong though.

ICV not working, sticking, can cause a car to die right after starting, or idle high and somebody adjusts the idle screw instead of replacing the ICV and makes it worse when it unsticks.

Good call!

One of the major causes of confusion and complications when diagnosing a problem: What could have been done to deal with this in the past, and what effect would that have had?

People start adjusting things to deal with the symptoms without fixing the original underlying problem. Then when they finally find the original problem it still doesn't run right. At that point it's time to go back to the start and get everything back where it was.

Hello again, I got the maf rebuild, new icv, new intake plenum clamps all around , car runs really good , starts right up , idles great, sounds healthy, but something is still going on , when the car gets to 4k rpm it starts pulling really nice but kind of slow to get to 4 rpm. Any ideas what it could mean? Same thing was going on when I bought the car with eBay hips in it. Also I read in s300 description that the chip Is supposed to run little higher rpm t start up for couple sec to warm it up quicker, and mine just. Starts an right away rpm is at 700. Would it be the aluminum fly wheel? Sorry. I keep Bothering you guys but I want the car to run its best and you guys are the 928 know it all pros!!!! Im. Feel lucky to get all this help from you guys! Thanks again.
